Ok, three weeks into working out, I feel great, but i am hating cardio as days goes by, I am enjoying my weight training too much.
I was slackin a bit on my cardio, i do it but not intense enough, is that why I havent lost any weight? But suprisngly, i can see some definition(i guess thats toning, right?) on my bi/tricep and my legs.
I hate the treadmill,...10min to it, i am thinking about other things i should be doing...
elleptical, i can live with it,
Question: can i do my cardio using elleptical only and how can do hiit on ell.

First thing I would suggest is using music to get you thru your cardio. I couldn't do cardio if it wasn't for my MP3, it makes all the difference!! As far as the ellip goes, you can use a hills program, or just up the intesity for 2 min intervals. Just make sure your going all out for those 2 min. Personally, I like to use a hills program at a high level setting. You could also try a spinning class (cycling) or swimming. It is best to do a variety of cardio activities.
-------------- Even if you are on the right track, you will get run over if you just sit there.

What if he ups the intensity of his weight training? Should he perhaps take shorter breaks in between sets for example? Just make sure his heart rate keeps up? As you might be able to tell I am also not a cardio fan. ;) I like to ride my bike outside or rollerblade but the weather does not always permit. Do you think the above will help or is there no replacement for 'real' cardio? What if he just eats real fast until he gets tired? ok, I know, I know, how I'm pushing it.

I don't like cardio much myself, I especially HATE the treadmill. The only way I get through it is with music. The right kind of music gives me so much power, I totally get into it. I sometimes even step/row to the beat (techno music works well here:) ) Or when I'm rowing I close my eyes and pretend I'm rowing in a real boat on a river and I'm in a race:big_smile: and I'm winning!!! Without music I hate every sec.

Try a bike.
I fell on my ass really hard at supper during our Mardi Gras celebration, and I didn't want to go running or on the elliptical or stairmaster with my ass in pain when I walked.
The bike was a good change. It was relaxed, burning calories, getting my heart rate up, and sweating all at the same time. And my ass didn't hurt either :)
You can try skipping rope too for cardio.

Cardio can be done in a million ways.....why limit yourself to just running?
you can try variety of sports...(basketball, football, tennis, climbing, soccer, boxing, etc...)
skip rope
try rowing machine
you can do bodyweight squats for 5-10 minutes nonstop and that would be a cardio workout....
If you hate doing cardio then you might consider increasing the intensity....higher the intensity the less time you need to spend doing cardio....
