I just wanted to say I was humbled today big time. I thought I was ready to try a big bench 225 yeah doesnt sound like much but big to me. I grab this kid I always spot at the gym to spot me on it and I failed. The humbling part is this kid is only 5'8 maybe 170 and I have spoted him with no help at 275. I need the strength god to take pitty on me and get my strength up. But I did make 225 on the dead lift. At least my back is getting stronger I was able to walk out of the gym free from major back pain. Thanks gator the good mornings, hypers, and ab work are helping allot.

Dude, hang in there...thats all i am doing too...hangin' in there knowing that im improving slowly.

I FINALLY did 105 this past week on bench press and that for me was a major accomplishment seeing as when i first started FT i had virtually NO chest strength. My buddy still had to help me on the last two reps cause i was about to die. My back is feeling much stronger and that makes me feel good. Shoulders are gaining strength quickly, but its still nothing. We'll get there man...

hey there Mmaibohm, I just made 205 max bench, 225 is my next goal too! I think 225 is a considerable amount of weight to bench, personaly that would throw me over the 100% of your body weight thing, and that is cool. Pluss, I do not know why, but those skinny little shits seem to be strong at times.

225 is still alot IMO...I was pushing around 145 and I took my week break off and it dropped drastically down to around 115....Im working back at it though adding 2 1/2-5 pound weights slowly but surely! Word of advice mmaibohm/tex-Just because your bench isnt really that much when you look at other people doesnt mean it isnt effective....I still struggle around 115 pounds and while it isnt much it is still ripping my muscles and making me a beast :)

Hey, MB, don't sweat it! No matter what your occupation or passion, everyone starts at the beginning. The strongest man in the world had to start out with an empty bar, and Aristotle began as a simple, teenage student.

"Even the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." ......... Don't lose the faith, bro! :dumbbell:

Actually the experience has made me a little ticked off. And further renewed my drive. I want it more than ever now that I blew it in front of the whole gym lol. But thanks every one for the support.

It's not where you start that counts... it's where you finish. I started training 17 years ago and when I first benched I was pushing 100 lbs or something around that. I bench 450-470 raw and I am still pissed off when I miss a rep. Let it piss you off. It is good fuel for future gains. Just keep working hard and smart and you'll get there (there always seems to get bigger though! ;) ).

You are so right Gator, everytime I miss a rep I get so pissed of I say to myself I should of had that one. mmaibohm just keep at it and I guarantee that you will be doing that weight in no time. Trust me there where times where I said to myself I will never get passed 315 now I am doing 330. Just stay intense when your under that bar and keep working at it and you'll get it.

it all comes with time...and i know from experiance. i have been lifting for about 4 years and at first, i was pumped to get up 125 just once. then just the past week, i was doing some speed bench and threw up 175 three times (in speed bench fasion) like it was nothing. then later in the week did 200 for 4 reps easily. so i'm around the 225/230 range for bench and it took years to get there.

Crap man, my bench max is 135..yeah it's horrible. I'm 16, and I've only been workin out since last summer. I have good endurance and I can get 100 15 times, but for some reason I have trouble with the power and low reps, thank God I've started doing power routines
