is there any females here that have this? Have you gained extra weight since diagnosis?

I'm not female but I do have a Hypo-thyriod and yes I did gain weight. My wife had hyperthyriodism, they fixed that, and she has a hypothyriod now. and she may or may not have gained weight, but I swear I never noticed and I would never say that she did.

I had thyroid cancer, so often I run hypo. Since my thyroid has been removed in the thirteen years I have gained approximately 5-7 pounds each year...now, if I exercise right and eat right, I don't gain - but after just a short time of stopping my routines I started gaining pretty much immediately it seems. It is harder work, but I don't know why I waited so long to see it is worth it to not gain and do what I am suppose to!

Most people with hypo do gain weight but some don't. I have hypofor five years now. There are many things that you must do to control the weight gain.It is also harder to loss weight once you have gain it. The thyroid gland helps balance the hormones that help many organs of your body. Your brain ,immune system,nerves system,many otheprts. some people gain 30 poundsin 3 months ther slower. ou retain water more . There are mny sites about tyoid.

============
I have a hypothyriod and im 19. I used to think i would always be big, as i was when i was younger too. I was once a size 14 (UK SIZE) but with exercise on a cross trainer, a good diet and lots of will power i got down to a size 10 now, and i weight 8 stone 12 pounds. My aim is 8 stone 7 pounds. My point being, that you can lose the weight and tone up if you TRY hard enough!!
