ok heres a good question i believe (sp). Which is more beneficial after a workout a cool down in a tub of ice, or a cool down in a hot tub, would heat be more beneficila to the healing process or would it be the chill of the ice?

I'm not sure, but it seems to me that HEAT would be more beneficial since it increases the bloodflow. And good circulation is necessary to recover.:)

Depends on the workout... I recommend cold sparingly post workout, because it can cause a powerful hormone response... adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol.
Immediately after exercise, I would recommend letting your body return to normal. I always recommend that athletes, which generally stress out there body more than enough, take at least 15 minutes off after exercise... Get a pwo shake, passive stretching, fill out your workout log, sit on your ass. Just try to avoid doing anything even remotely stressful.

i was just wondering, because i've heard of people doing he tub of high they say it causes the muscles in their body to rejuvanate alot faster than normal. as for what i've heard with the hot tub thing people say it relaxes the muscles and is suposed to cause the healing and growth process to accelerate (sp) easier.

I'd stay out of hot tube....cause if say you have a hard leg workout....and sit in a hot tube for 15mins....your legs will be jello lol. While it does increse blood flow, also opens up the muscles and makes them more elastic( i think) HInce why you feel so "loose" after a hot tube session.

I think cold therapy(not sure about tub of ice but cold water might work) is best shortly after workout, to decrease the inflammation that is caused by tough workouts....however after 12-24 hours, I would think hot therapy is best as it improves circulation to the tissues and speeds up the healing process....
