Hey, I am currently 5'6'' 175 lbs. male with a medium body frame. 175 lbs. for my height is clearly an unhealthy weight. I was wondering what a healthy weight would be for my height and body frame, what the best way to acheive this would be, and approximately how long this would take.
Thanks.

Kevin - there is no way to know what a healthy weight for you would be - the charts don't take into account muscle mass.

I grew up being told I was small-framed and should weigh 118 pounds.

I compete at 145 pounds, and that is very low bodyfat. I am 5'4" tall. If I went by the charts I would be considered overweight.

Get your body composition done by a trainer with calipers and then decide how much you want toweigh according to your lean mass.

Sorry to hijack your post bigsized but this made me think...

For instances such as insurance (health/life) are bodybuilders considered higher risk due to what some chart says then? obviously by the way they live, exercise, and eat they are much less risk but if something as dumb as a sliding chart is used would this be the case?

that's a good question, cuz according to BMI I'm morbidly obese, even though I have a lower bf% than the average american. I know I couldn't be in a medical study because of my bmi, because they wanted people with a "healthy" weight. They had never even seen me, she just asked me my height and weight over the phone. I was mad about that one cuz it paid $6000 bucks and I really needed the money :-/

I'm a 15 year old girl. I am 5'10" and I weigh about 158. I know I'm not fat, but I think I should weigh less. What do you think?
