No you are not supposed to have a special guide instructor. We are a bunch of nice knowledged people in here who use our spare time to answer your questions.
We only do this because we like it.
So if you have any questions Robert, we are here to help. That's it. (o:

All the information you need is within the pages of freetrainers.com. Here is a hint of advice: Since your just starting out be sure to start with lite weights and concentrate on your form. If your not sure how to do an exercise ask someone at the gym or look it up here before attempting it imporperly and possible hurting yourself.

there is not a weight to start with because everyone starts at a weight they can do the reps with. If you do an exercise and select 50 lbs and you cannot do the number of reps listed you started to heavy. If youcan do more reps then increase your weight on the next exercise.

itroisi is right..

there is no way ft can provide the weight for you since it is impossible to predict from your weight and height, etc. Pick a weight that you can do ONLY the reps that are given, you'll have to experiment with the weights 'till you get used to what your body can handle.

Good Luck.

The main factor is the stress put on the muscles. The weights will differ with everyone. Just use a weight that you fail with at the reps required? Do you understand?..

There is no ideal weight..... Everybody is different. Try your way Robert, we in here don't know your force.

Robert, since everyone is different, we'll all have our definition of heavy and light weights. However, as you discover your "ideal weight," you at least know what your heaviest is, right? So, from there, use about 1/2 of the max weight on your 1st set, then add a few more pounds (about 20%) until you reach your last set. By the time you reach your last set, you should come close to your "max" weight. Remember, the key is to be able to lift the weight on the last set with the recommended amount of reps. as stated in the ft program. If you can't come close, then the weight is too heavy.

Does this make sense? Good luck and lift hard!
