so- i have been trying the south beach diet, in the am doing alternating arm and leg training (weights, squats,lunges...ect) and 3 time s a week dong cardio- 30 minute sessions where i alternate intensities, intense for 2 min then off for 2, ect. Im frustrated by the fact that i CAN NOT get rid of the weight around my stomach and that is the only place i carry weight! Am i killing my routine because I do cardio in the afternoon? I do not have time to do it in the am- the gym isnt open and i dont have time to get in a decent run outside. I was thinking a supplement and protien shakes? Will that work? Ijust want to cry - i have been working so hard for the past month and a half and would just think i would see some results. Im tired of the south beach phase one- im do drained without carbs or a little sugar. ARG :(

i have no clue about south beach diet.. am not fond of these dieting routines.. i just do my work the normal old fashioned way.. eat good and work out.. so i hope there are some people who know about this and give u good suggestions about south beach diet...

as far as ur other question is concerned... just think how long did it took ur body to collect THAT weight around ur stomach? :).. will it let it go so easily..i mean comeon.. u r getting frustrated in 1 and a half month?.. :).. give it some time.. u'll see results..

from ur profile i saw that u do exercise every morning and then 3-4 times in the afternooon every week.. now that might be the case.. u might be over training..

what i would suggest is.. get an exercise program from FT and follow it.. and be patient.. it takes time to get the results u want...

hope i helped...

hmmmm
ok what is a normal day of eating?? - I have done Atkins & know about it

do you rest any day?? I would change it up - sign up for a program here that way you don't over work any muscle which is what it sounds like you are doing

The Dom is right - give yourself a break.

I've been at this now since mid-December, training the heck out of myself and JUST NOW (4 months later) am I seeing visual affects. I plan on it taking another year or so to be where I would really like to be.

Red sounds like she can give you some help on the diet front.

Now worries - keep at it. Remember, this is a life change.

it hasnt taken me that long to collect the weight around my midsection- i have always been soft there meaning i have never had a 6 pack but ihave been trim- i played three sports in hs and was a collegiate volleyball player. Im not overweight i just have in the past 6 months put weight on (Stress from student teaching and trying to plan a wedding and graduate at the same time)im not used to haveing to take weight off so i dont know how long to expect. I just feel like im busting my ass- my lgs look better than ever, my arms and back look great (in a month and a half) but my damn missection!! I love eating healthy, but maybe switching up my diet might work. Ill try the nutritional program. Thanks to everyone for the help. I appreciate it. Im frustrated and im going on vacation the first week of june and was just hoping that by then iw ould be feeling a little better about myself. Maybe after graduation ill feel better. THANKS!

Your last line in your first post says it all.
If you are restricting your carbs to none, then your body will hang on to the stored fat where-ever it is on your body.
The protein shake will increase your calories and is a good idea if you are training hard with the weights. Otherwise get your protein from natural sources. There is no magic supplement out there to help you rid fat.
I would add in some complex carbs to your diet. And like Reddy , I am also curious to what your calorie intake is.

Thanks for the advice again. Im not looking for a magic supplement, just something to aid- not like fat loss in a bottle- that stuff scares me. Im not sure what my calorie intake is. ONsouth beach my shed was 2 eggs in the morning, a slice of fresh turkey as a snack a little caeser salad (no croutons or cheese) and sometimes a little tuna for lunch a handfull of peanuts for snack and chicken breast in oliveoil with veggies for dinner and insane amounts of water. Now im back to a zone bar in the morning, salad with lite or caeser dressing for lunch with some fruit or half a sandwich on rye and still chicken and veggies for dinner. Im not crazyabout lots ofdressing or sauces to cook my chicken in (im pretty boring) Im not big on sweets and have no sugar added cocoa as a snack if im craving someting orpeanuts. I will try to keep track of my calorie input. Ill repeat- this is all new to me and frustrating so if i seem to be a jumbled mess- i am!:) oh and my borther (who is crazy into weight training gave me this supplement Instone "Leanfire" heard of it? It certainly gives me energy.

I tried South Beach. Definitely prefer FreeTrainers Nutritional Tracker. FT NT gives you a MUCH more realistic balance.
I'm with Ivan - no carbs means no fuel. I honestly recommend trying the nutritional tracker.
Also keep in mind it's very easy to sabotage yourself if you're trying too many things at once. Be kind to yourself. Tummy jiggles are VERY hard to trim because reduction relies completely on overall body health.

Don't give up!!
