I am very frustrated and confused with so many different things that I am reading and hearing. I signed up to a gym a year ago, and I went faithfully for a year, worked out about 2hrs a day. I mostly did cardio (tredmil 30min / stair stepper 15 min) and sometimes did the stair stepper longer than the tredmil & the rest some weights. I sweated.. but I was not losing any weight. I was still. I have lots of cellulite on my legs and some on my abs. I am afraid to do weights because I am so short and have short legs that I would look bulky. However, other people at the gym noticed that my face was getting thinner. I am 36 years old, 4'11 and weigh 150. I am a single mom and a full time college student. Durning finals I just didn't have time to go to the gym and I just haven't gone back. A very 'fit' friend of mine introduced me to Myoplex Lite and I started to drink the shakes with some fruit and crushed ice. I started to do squats at home and sit ups with my exercise ball and also used my little dumb bells. All of a sudden people started to notice more that I was losing weight. I still weigh the same but I had lost some inches. She told me that along with the guy who sold me the Myoplex that all I am doing is just sweating.. and I really don't need to do cardio.I will burn fat just doing weights. My question is.. what is the truth? Is it really possible for me to have firm legs and thighs and butt? What exercises should I stay away from looking bulky and look leaner? Im tired of the flab and the cellulite!! I want to be firm!!

Ok, I read toning vs bulking. I guess it is possible for me to get firm and get rid of the flab. What about the cellulite? I have been drinking the Myoplex/fruit shakes during lunch (instead of eating) When is the best time to be drinking them? Do you count every single thing you stick in your mouth? I read labels and I do not eat anything that has more than 10g of sugar. Most of what I eat does not have any fat. As far as Carbs go.. I think I dont eat anything over 24g. I have been eating lots of tuna, chicken and lots and lots and lots of salads. I am tired of having to watch everysingle thing I stick into my mouth. I stop working out in 2wks and it shows. :angry:Im not sure what the hell I'm doing...LOL HELP!!!

There is a book called "Sugar Busters" that helped me and my wife realize how much sugar is really out there even in whole Food. Good read. I'll defer the cellulite to folks who know.

Cellulite will leave as you lose fat. It probably won't go away completely, but at that point there are some skin firming creams that you can use which will help reduce it's appearance. Hope this helps!!

I don't know this for a fact - I've only heard about this and it could all be bull - but I've heard that there are certain methods of deep tissue massage that can help "break up" cellulite. It sound pretty creepy to me, but who knows. Someone else here might know more about it.

Deep tissue massage helps to make the cells give up some of the toxins they hold on to, and thus makes the cellulite look reduced.

Thanks! I have seen a vacuum like massage done to reduce the look of cellulite. I wonder if I used my own vacuum hose will it work..LOL

No one has responded about the Myoplex/fruit protein shakes.

The best time to have a shake is
a) when you are supposed to eat and you cannot possibly get a whole food meal in
or
b) after your workout when you need to replenish your muscles with some protein and carbs.

Otherwise you should be eating chicken breast, tuna, fish, lean beef, eggs, with vegtables, oatmeal, rice, complex carbs and some fat like olive oil or flax oil. Every three hours :)
