Is it ok to workout while recovering from the flu?

You will have to be the judge, but if you have a fever at all, I would not do it. Even without one, especially the first day or so after you start feeling better, the bug can come back if too much stress on the system is there. You should probably wait a couple days at least. Besides, if you still have the virus, others in the gym will surely not want to catch it.

I've just got over the 'flu and I would reiterate that you are better off waiting an extra day or two to recover completely than to try to go back to soon - I made this mistake and it really set me back.

I subsequently kept an eye on my resting pulse (taken first thing in the morning before I got up) and only when it was back down to normal did I start working out again.

If you workout when you're sick, you're just going to increase stress hormones, which won't help you get any nearer your goals.

Besides the body can always use some rest. In fact most gains in muscle mass and or weight loss are acheived while resting....so take a few extra days and relax the gym will always be there.
