This is kinda off topic for this site, but im wondering if it is ok for me to take my dog w/ me on my runs, the runs are anywhere from 3-5 miles. Im going to ask my vet, but was wondering here if anyone takes their dogs/animals with them on cardio/exercise routines. Generally is exercise just as healthy for animals as it is for humans?

I would say so.... I grew up on a farm and for whatever reason, the dog would run along side everything... it was almost like that's the only thing it would do... run... I say go for it... I've seen joggers running with their dogs all the time...

Ease him into it if he hasn't been as active as you are, but otherwise - he will love it! My dog loves it when we run, and now if I just want to walk him he expects me to run.:surprised:

thats great, but also another question i have for this subject, is this:
Its also important for animals to exercise just like humans isn't it? Dogs/cats whatever can get fat, and be unhealthy right without a proper routine or playing fetch etc.

Absolutely.... feed 'em right, give 'em lots of exercise and they'll live a long healthy life!

rbct, don't take your dog for runs when it's very hot
and humid. They have higher body temp.than us .Plus,
dogs don't sweat. Dogs cool themselves down panting.
Otherwise they can outrun you.
