Obviously Subway shouldnt be the staple around which a sound diet should be built around, but as far as a "fast food" choice, you could do much worse.-------------- Great people never want it easier, they just want to be better! Ron |

I'm not a big fan of all that bread. If the meat is lean then that's fine, but all those carbs in the bread won't really help you much. My suggestion: for the same price as one Subway sub, go buy a pound (or more) of lean meat from your local deli and make your own sandwich the way you like it. -------------- --JBennett "I've up-ed my intensity.... now up yours!" Jarred...is that....you???!!!??!?!?? Actually, subways are beneficail for people with extreme weight problems due to bad choices and eating habits, as you can see where they compare their foods on napkins and such....also, when you watch those commercials pay close attention to the bottom where it states"in accordance to a healthy diet and exercise regimn"....otherwise for people with slight to moderate weight problems...they would benefit more from whay jbennett is saying....a sandwich is a sandwich...you can see what they put on it...at least if you do it jbennett's way you be burning more calories making your own then watching someone make it for you-------------- If hard work and persistence were the keys to success, most people would opt to pick the lock.~Dick |

I heard that Jared dude ate two 6 inch subs a day...and that is IT. He had previously been eating fast foods and other junk every day.

Think about it, if he ate 2 subways sandwiches per day and that is all, this would be his approximate calorie intake, 900 calories total! Now, as big as he was, he would have to lose weight! His manintenance calories must have been pretty astronomical at his weight, and he had to be tons below them.
A 6" Subway Club sandwich with the double meat option yields approximately the following without cheese and mayo. Protein Carbs Fat Calories 45g 46g 10g 454 cals 35% 43% 21% -------------- Great people never want it easier, they just want to be better! Ron |

Its all about promoting subway.
You can do the same thing at any restaurant or fast food joint. -------------- "Get everthing you want--just make a little change now" |

Exactly. Eating only two meals a day at Subways barely consists of a 1000 calories. Jared seemed to do well but most of us would not. First of all there is too long a wait between meals and we would get hungry. I also think that after a week of Subway meals only, I would throw up just looking at another sandwhich. Crazy diets can work but in the long run won't hold out. You can plateau quickly and be unhealthy missing vital nutrients. Try something you can see yourself doing for life. Eat a balanced diet of protein, lots of veggies and whole grains. Eat six small meal per day. Cut your portions in half to lose. Exercise. Yeah the old fashioned way, the slow but sure way and definitely healthy.

I ate at subway 3x a week. Just too much bread and the bad bread too!
I can't eat it more than once every 2 months now, unless I am stuck with no other place to eat. I am not saying it's unhealthy, but a good grilled chicken breast in a restaurant is better. -------------- You can walk to anywhere you want, it only takes time. I eat the grilled chicken, half-sub but double meat with onions, tomatoes, and honey-mustard sauce regularly on hearty italian bread with a diet pepsi. Loaded with protein and still under 500 calories...right now, I'm down to 190 (from 252 last June) which is the lowest I've been in 12 years.
That doesn't mean subway did it, just that it sure hasn't hurt my efforts. -------------- --There are no versions of the truth.-- Jeff Goldblum, Jurassic Park II |

7 grams is not alot of fat, considering other foods are as high as 33 in one serving.
Of course I wouldn't put mayo, dijon musturd is also good. -------------- You can walk to anywhere you want, it only takes time. Ivan Montreal Canada (aka SpongeBob Square Pants to some!) |

I'm not a diet expert or anything hehehe but I have a thing I do when I go to subway.
I like to get some type of meat, like turkey/chicken/tuna/something all the veggies, tons of black pepper to give it some good flavor too. I always get the wheat bread and ask them to dig the center out of the bread. That's almost an entire loaf of bread if you get a foot long. If they dig all of the center out it takes a LOT of bread out of it and it's easier to hold on to and lots better for ya! I get a foot long and ask them to cut it into 3 pieces instead of 2. They have no problem with doing whatever you want them to do. I eat one piece every couple of hours. |

You can also get any sub made into a salad made with spinach at subway. I always get a 6" double meat, usually chichen and pile on the veggies, some days I get cheese but not always. I think it is def. better than the other fast food but its the same thing don't eat out every day.
