Hi, I am new here and was wondering if drinking Diet Soft Drinks would negate any of the efforts of working out and an otherwise healthy diet. I know there are no calories or any other nutritional content, but didn't know if any of the other substances in it work against you. I am having a hard time staying away from it and don't know if I really need to or not. Thanks

If they have no calories, they have no protein, no carbs, no good fats. Proteins and carbs have 4 calories per gram, and fat has 9 calories per gram. 0 calories = 0 benefits, except fulfulling some low-calorie diets.

And to add, the artificial sweetener is exactly the best thing in the world for you.
But, that being said, if you just HAVE to have a pop, diet might be the best choice.

I know its not my post, but I'd like to edit Tim's post to say "is NOT exactly the best thing". I'm sure thats what you meant, right?
BTW Tim, I like the signature. "I am training for birthdays." Good goal.

There is a lot of sodium in diet sodas...therefore bloating...increased thirst...drinking more
but it definetly is better than regular soda for sugar and calories...when a small pop at most places is like 20oz that is absurd
did you know that a carnival sized serving of cotton candy has less calories/sugar (approx 100cals) than pop (8oz-105 cals...and no one drinks just eight oz....a can is larger than that)

Studies have also shown that drinking diet sodas can make you crave other sugary foods.

6 points that I tell every client looking to drop weight.
Fiber with every meal.
Increase protein intake.
Drink more water.
6 meals, not 3.
Consume less carbohydrates, if any, at night.
No more soda.
follow these six simple rules strictly for a couple months, an tell me you don't see results. But how many of these do you break every day?
