When doing bench press wich one will give you a beter work out DB or BB. At the moment i just use DB. My buddy quit on me so it's more to be save.

it depends on what you're trying to achieve. if your main focus is strength, then barbell.

Dumbbells will challenge your rotator cuff muscles more and give you a more natural range of motion.
I think you can gain just as much strength with dumb bells.
If you need a spotter on the bench, ask any guy in the weight room - they shouldn't need to help you so much that it would be dangerous to do it without them, they should just be ready to tap the bar up if you get stuck.
A good program will use both barbells and dumbbells at different times.

Amy again is right on with her advice. Do both if you can.
I for instance have switched to strictly dummbells , due to a bit of shoulder problem. Bar forces me down in a certain plane of motion due to the bar. With dumbbells, you can 'adjust' your range of motion.
I believe as Amy says, and I did this before my shoulder problems, do both at different times. They will compliment each other.

Thanx. I'll just have to get a spotter. I'm gonning for strength but mixing them up might give me better results.
