Hi all! Been a little while-
Just thought I would come by and notify you all that I received my certification as a Personal Trainer from ISSA. Thanks for all the advice, laughs, and ideas from BB1, rev8ball, Assimer, Carivan, et al.
I got hired on as a personal trainer at a local gym, and I'm very excited, but about to see some cash flow deficit. Any ideas on how some of you seasoned trainers made it the first few months until clients filled up? My gym is membership-based only, so outside people in to train is not an option...
Thanks,
Josh

Easy. Learn everything you can... Study religiously, and your clients will see good results. This will get you results. It took me only 9 months before I was our gyms most requested and highest paid trainer. Why? Because I knew how to force results out of anyone.

Congratulations on your certification Josh!! You may be earning less cash at first, but at least you'll be working at a job you truly enjoy! I totally agree with wrestler, train them well and they will not only keep coming back but will tell others!

The problem is in a couple weeks, the money from my last job will be spent, I'm making considerably less per hr (when I'm not one-on-one training), and I think a second job will definitely interfere with time I'm able to do personal trainings. My wife doesn't see that point very well, but I don't want training to start out already on a bad foot. Any married-with-kids-trainers out there have this predicament?
Thanks as always,
Josh

Heres another benefit of educating yourself.
If you are good, real good, people will request you. While people that the gym gets you will dictate your schedule, when someone REQUESTS to have you train them, then THEY have to work around YOUR schedule.
