Do a search here at FTs. Many of our certified PTs have discussed their programs. Personally, I like ISSA: diverse certs with good assistance program. I am interested in becoming a certified personal trainer and I am not sure which company to use. I am currently considering ACE. I have no background in this sort of thing other than I have been lifting for years now and have been playing sports all my life. I am currently in my third year of study in an unrelated field. Is the exam difficult enough that I should actually need to purchase the study guides? Or can I just remember my BIO labs andeverything that I have acquired through my own personal years of training?

You can checkout issa on the web, they have about 6 certifications, in canada we have corfit, and the ymca, and perhaps tim, in your province there is a provincial association. If you go to corfit.com there is a link to ISSA.-------------- "A will finds a way, failure is not an option" Ivan carivan@freetrainers.com Montreal Canada |

i was certified through issa (let it lapse) their pft cert stresses resistance training which is perfect for me. if you are more cardio inclined, I'd go with ace. the issa test is pretty difficult and well recognized. ace seems to be more widely recognized, but in a short while, any national cert will do, because they are trying to get a national/regional test in place to help with credibility.

my dream has always been to be more involved with the nutrition part of Fitness and Nutrition. I would love to have mty own place where I could do nutrition consulting with clients, with a PT to help with the fitness part. Also I would love to be an independant nutrition counselor where I go to peoples homes and advise them on how they could make some changes judging on what is in their fridge and cupboards and also have them record what they eat for a week. Is there such a thing? Do you have to pass a PT test first? I know ACE has a weight management consultent course. (I think)
