The problem with that is what the govt considers "sugar," and what it doesn't.
Putting aside the fact that all carbs are sugars, just different in structure, usually that label counts what is considered simple carbs, verses complex - sucrose, fructose, lactose, etc. What it DOESN'T count (and it is more accurate) are high GI sugars, verses low GI - malt, corn, etc.
Best thing to do is learn the basics about carbs, read the ingredients label, and decide for yourself.

After I read that, it looks a little confusing. What I meant is that sugars like sucrose, fructose, lactose, etc., are simple carbs, and sugars like malt, corn, etc., are high GI.
Sorry about that....

Thanks for replying...another question: Would the grams of carbs from sugar be counted as carbs that I need for my diet?? Or are they bad?
|

All carbs are counted as carbs, you just have to learn the good from the bad. Typically, the ones with a high sugar content are bad. Some examples of good ones are sweet potato, brown rice, oats, beans, whole grains, etc.

The only time you really need a simple sugar is directly post workout in your PWO.
