I am one of those people who start a workout, go strong at it for a few weeks then quit. But I can't this time. Doing a vacation in the Bahamas and I have to stay dedicated but I cannot stop snacking on chocolate or candy at night. Anyone have any tips to stop this? I am not an overweight person but I do need to "tone up" and I eat throughout the day, it just seems that after 5 or 6 I give in. Please help with ideas!

Make your snacks of the fat variety, like nuts. Walnuts, pecans, almonds...they are satisfying, and will have no impact on blood sugars.

You might be better off if you went ahead and ate a small, healthy meal instead of just snacking.

Depending on what time you eat dinner, you may just need to eat.

Good post Jessica....on a note to that, when I said snack on nuts, it is if you HAVE to snack. If you are getting too hungry between meals, you probably don't have your diet down quite right. It is of course best not to snack if you can help it.:)

How many meals a day are you eating? When do you go to bed. You may need an extra meal. Remember nuts, although healthy, are high in calories....only 10 nuts (almonds, hazelnuts etc) is a serving. Eat something rich in protein. A salad with lots of brightly coloured veggies and some tuna or chicken on it. Or a protein shake. Avoid starchy carbs late...but if you are up late everynight your body may require extra healthy calories after 5 six oclock.

One thing to remember about nuts, though high in calories, it is good fats and will not impact blood sugars. This is imparitive to correct dieting. 1 oz. of walunts for instance is one of the best way to go. Has a higher than most Omega 3-6 ratio, which you want. Our diets these days are usually much higher the other way, and this is not good. Most folks are deficient in EFA's because of the media scare of fats. These fats in the right proportion will satiate you and help you. Protein and salad and such is another meal basically, not a snack.

Brush your teeth... especially if it's at night... as much as we need to keep our teeth clean, I find it a pain in the *** to re-do them... have your supper... a healthy snack somewhat early and then brush earlier than usual... helps me cuz I don't want to have to brush again...
