I heard that a good weight training workout that lasts around an hour burns about 500 calories. Would this mean I would have to consume about 500 more calories on workout day than I normally would on days that I don't? For instance my daily needs are around 3500 but I'm assuming on days I workout I should try to get 4000? IF this is right, how on earth do I go about getting this many while I'm in school
It depends on your goals. If you are bulking, then most certainly a caloric surplus is needed. If dieting, then the opposite is true.
How many of either is something you will have to in essence determine. We all burn calories at a different rate, and it is very hard to say we burn 500 calories for instance. Too many factors are in play to make such a blanket statement.
