It's time to pick a new program for me. My long terms goals are to add mass and maintain a low bf. My short term priority is to lose fat, lots of it. If i can do something that helps fat loss but might mean muscle atrophy, that's fine by me.

So far i've been on the 8 week progresive gains lifting prog while maintaining a nutrition level lower than FT's for weight loss.
I'm currently at 79kg. I was at 84kg when i started and i've definatly had some muscle growth since, waist is over an inch reduced. I have my intake levels about right now i think, i'm lossing weight while still having enough energy, i did go too low and found myself tired easy, so i think i'm on the right track now.

Now the question. My diet is set for weight loss - fat 20g, 175g protein, 2k cal, 300g carb. Obveously this isn't optimal for gaining mass.

As i do actually want to gain mass, should i go for a mass gain program, even tho i won't gain from it as i would if my diet was set right. Or stick to a toning/progressive prog.

Can you damage/hurt your body by asking it to build up but not giving it what it needs to do so?

I would go with a mass buliding program, and here is the best news for you...since you will be lifting harder and heavier you can go ahead and eat more! You can indeed hurt the body by trying to bulid without the right amount of food. In fact you could have the opposite effect....hop e this helps

oops lol but then again when you are happy with your results do a fatloss tone program to get a mass/ripped look
just make sure to do 3 cardios a week and 3 light/medium training sessions to maintain (not grow do to a reduction of calories) muscle.

Well, why not try this....Do a 4 to 6 week gaining cycle, then a 2 week "hardening" cycle. In other words, on your gaining cycle, go all out for mass. Then evaluate, and do a 2 week or so cycle of hardening, meaning if you are not doing cardio, add cardio, or if you are, add some. Evaluate your calorie intake, drop it by the amount needed to maintain lean muscle mass. In other words, cut out the fats and lots of the carbs for 2 weeks. Then re-evaluate. Go back to the mass program if you "hardened" up to your liking. Just a suggestion, but I think it will keep things from getting too out of hand. Remember, it is much easier to lose 10% bodyfat than 20%. Good luck..
