Amy,

I have asked you a couple of questions on the WSSC Food plan thread but hoped to get a little more info here. I have been following the fitness plan outlined here as well as my own routine I've created. I have also been following the WSSC Food plan to a "t". The problem is that I have actually gained weight. Here is a little bit of my story: I work out 1.5-2 hours a day 6 days a week. I do cardio everyday with HIIT on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. I lift 5 days a week, changing it up everyday. Up until recently I was restricting my calorie intake too much and not getting nearly enough protein. After a ton of research both here and other sites I decided to try and lose a little weight and tone up the "healthy" way. Like I said I have been following the WSSC plan exactly but now I'm really frustrated. I understand that a small amount of weight gain was inevitable due to the calorie/protein increase but I have now gained close to 7 lbs. My original goal was mostly to get really toned and drop 2-3 pounds. With the added weight now I need to get rid of a total of 10 lbs. I have talked to my Dr. and he supports both my workout and diet plans. I just don't know what else to do. I feel like I am doing everything I am "supposed to" be doing but I'm gaining not losing. Do you have any thoughts or ideas that might help me? I appreciate any help you might be able to give me.

Thanks so much!!

Angela... did you measure yourself prior to starting? Alot of times weight will go up but actual measurements will go down. The scale is NOT a friend! Take your measurements and go from that not from what the scale says. Are your workouts 1.5-2 hours or is that workout and cardio together? Your workout itself should take you no more than 1 hour. Good luck!

georgiagirl,

Thanks for the response. According to my measurements everything is the same or slightly smaller with the exeption of my abs. That seems to be where the added weight has gone. I guess I'm just super frustrated right now. I thought I would post the question here in case there are others out there with the same problem. At least we're not alone.

Thanks!

what does "bump" mean? Sorry to sound like a Mo, but I see it all over the boards and I just don't know what it means.

If you're coming back from a diet that restricted calories too much, especially while you were taxing your system, you probably put your metabolism into starvation mode. It's going to hoard the calories you've just started adding back for a while until it "resets" itself. I agree with georgiagirl about forgetting about the numbers. If you can, get your Body Fat % measured somewhere and then have it remeasured in a few weeks. Even if the #'s on the scale go up, I bet that the % #'s go down, and that's what REALLY counts. Remember, thin does NOT automatically equal healthy.

"bump" is just filler to bring a thread back to the top of the list.

Sorry - I have been crazy-busy and not on the site for a while.

Angela - You are doing the routine designed here plus one you came up with? Probably overtraining - 2 hours a day is too much, IMO.

Wait it out and keep eating clean - sometimes it can take your body months to 'trust' you and let go of excess weight.

Does your doctor think you need to lose weight?

Go by measurements - which other than abs are down (could be a little bloat from fiber increase) and if you can find someone local to do your bodycomp with calipers find out your bodyfat percentage and lean mass. That is much more accurate than the scale alone.
