I am just getting back into the gym again after being off a few months. Being a full time student and working 30h or so a week I am somewhat streched for time.
Would doing a two day split where I do.. day one - upper body (back-chest-biceps-triceps-shoulders) day two - lower body (legs and calves) REST Day one, Day two, REST REST Taking it easy of course as it has been awhile. Would this be an ok plan? I like the idea of getting somewhat of a full working in only attending four days, and I would have 48h min rest time between workouts. Your suggestions on whether or not this would be cool would be great to hear. |

Nothing wrong with what you are going to do. The only thing is, day 1 is going to be a long workout. Any cardio?-------------- "A will finds a way" Ivan Montreal Canada |

Thanks for the reply carivan.
I would plan on doing my cardio post weights. I will on upper body days probably do a 20min jog or something after words, and possibly 45-60min cardio on lower body days to strech out and muscles etc. I usually do two days of jogging on my own in the great outdoors also. :) |

Since you have 4 days to lift, why not make a better split. This way you can put more intensity into your muscle groups. How about this...
Day1....Legs/calves Day2....Chest Day3...X Day4....Shoulders/back Day5....biceps/triceps Day6....X Day7....X Would probably be much more productive for you. -------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... |

Day 1's way too long. That should be cut to at least two days, if not three (four or five if you really want).
45-60 mins of cardio on leg days may prove tough. |

bb1fit ok that would be a workable split too. Now how long should a workout for someone looking to tone up last? 30min, 1h, etc? Also I if i was just working say "chest" would that not be a really short workout for the day? etc. Thanks for the post back guys./gals.

shorter the better, most my work outs last at most 1 hour or so, yea your 1st day is way to long lol, thats too much in one day. if u do chest and tris, how can u give it ur all on shoulders? if u want a 4 day spilt do likebb1fit says, or u can do a 3 day a week .....
monday.....chest and back wedsday....legs, triceps friday......shoulders, biceps u get plenty of rest and ur not doing half ur body in one sitting, the musle to u have nothing to do with each other so if one is tired it won't hurt the other lift much. -------------- ---andrew.......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! |
