Dance and rap "music" (using the term loosely here) getting repetitive? Try some angry punk rock for your work out. It gets the blood flowing. May I suggest Thursday, a great band with powerful lyrics (www.thursday.net) or Brand New, an innovative band that will get the heart pumping (www.brandnewrock.com). That will get you started if you are ready to turn a new leaf.

The misfits have been a fav of mine since the 80's along with black flag, rancid, dead kenedys. And what not punk has a very broken down primal pulse to it. lol - mike

Goldfinger, Rancid, and a little Sex Pistols to get me going...sometimes...I say sometimes because my workout music is HEAVY, HEAVY metal, mostly, but good call csferrie.

Jdelts, what heavy metal would that be?

I used to listen to heavy metal too when i worked out until i got a workout partner to go with, now i have to listen to him, and don't want to tune him out.

As long as i enjoy it, it goes. Hell, anything really goes for me as long as theres music. I just find it so awkward when the music stops and you can tell everyone else does too because you just look around and like everyone stops immedietly and looks at the sound system or the person working.

Tex...The boys from Texas are my favorite PANTERA. Logger, alot of German speed metal is Nazi driven. So they are probably talking about discrimination, to put it lightly...LOL

i did take some german in school and i have listened to a lot of heavy german music and most of the time it is i hate this, i hate that but that doesn't mean it is nazi driven. if you think about it a lot of american heavy metal is i hate this, i hate that too. so i guess our heavy metals are nazy driven too.

Yeah, Soulfly is coming out with there new album on the 30th I beleive,it's gonna be awesome, and Roots was a great album, although I really love all of Sepulturas late 80's early 90's albums. Yeah jdelts, I have always been into metal, especially while I am lifting. Nothing better for the soul. Glad to see other metalhead/lifters out there.

Dude...pantera is awesome. I also like hatebreed, type-o negative, slayer, a few local bands, soul fly, drowning pool

I have a wide range of music. But when i lift, i like something that makes me angry at myself, at others, at life, and i lift like animal...well small animal, but AnImAl. Yeah...i'm a dork. Atleast i come away from the gym feeling very good about my workout, and wake up the next morning with that hurt that feels so good.

Thursday is an incredible band and so is Thrice. They're my favorites. I also like to listen to Evanessence and Trapt

It's ok charlie, when I'm in a good mood, I'm all about the classic rock: Zepp, Floyd, The Who, Dylan, Doors, and can't forget those good old Canadian boys.... RUSH!

Now don't go getting all nostalgic on us!

Metallica started sucking once the 90's roled around. Now, they just copy all the current trends that are out. The only metal band that has kept there thrash/metal roots over the last 2 decades is SLAYER. SLAYER would eat Metallica for breakfast, lunch AND dinner AND still have room for another gay Metallica album after that. By that way, just got Soulfly's new cd and all I can say is that it completely kicks total ass:big_smile:

i like listening to some of the red hot chili peppers older stuff, some of it is more punk than funk and fast paced music to get you going.
p.s. if you can get hold of it buy the new john frusciante album, its certainly not punk but it some really good and powerful (and sometimes srangely spiritual) music.

this board started with punk and got astray pretty quickly. i always need to listen to strung out, NOFX, rise against, lagwagon, pennywise, no use for a name, fast hard and heavy skate punk to get things moving. embarassing as it may be though i have to confess some days my mp3 player is loaded up with Ratt, Motley Crew, Warrant...people deny listening to it, but you know you love the 80's cock rock.

I like fast and heavy metal, I also like fast and pulse blasting techno/trance to work out to. Something that gets the adrenline rolling through the veins the urge to make heads roll really gets the muscles going and puts me into a single mind set, pump untill I go thump, lol.:dumbbell:
