I was wondering how long would it take to get a six pack doing about 100 crunches each day? And damnit!! really frustrating I still have the beer belly!!! How can I loose some pounds so the abs start showing? |

check out the 12 week ab program.Unfortunatly the crunches will not make your abs show, but WILL stregnthen the ab muscles providing you do them slowly and correctly. The only thing that will give you that 6/8pack look is to get rid of the fat.The abs are really there hiding under the belly. Especially if you've been crunching. Think about it, if you had 2 inches of fat around your biceps or tris they wouldn't show either. And the sad part is, that the belly fat (that tire) is the first place to get fat and the last place to lose it. I don't mean 2 discourage you but, thats the truth. If your doing 100 crunches each day, your going way to fast. If you belong to a gym, try doing them on a decline bench, starting at the bottom and work your way up one rack at a time after every 25. You should feel the burn if you go slow enough. As far as time goes its different for everybody. Good luck with the abs kasper let us know how you do! |

What ever your comfortable with. Just make sure your last meal has been digested! lolI workout in the late afternoons. I do 30 crunches 2 sets of 15 on the #5 rack but took a while to get there. I used to do 85-100 like you but then learned the right way and it feels really good. No My abs don't show because I still have about 1 inch of fat hiding them. Don't get discouraged because strong abs help with supporting upper body. |

I don't go to any gyms, so I basicly do crunches at home. I kinda got confused on the "rack" thing, what is it?hehe. On your second post you said you use to do 85-100 but then you learned the right way. Whats the right way to do it? |

Philia is right. The right way is to do them slow . Do the 4-4 routine. That means count to 4 as in seconds going dowm and 4 when you come up. What I meant by raising the bench is, when you start at the bottom they will eventually get easier. When they are easy, it is not doing anything for you. So then you put the bench on the next rack (level) and it becomes more difficult, etc etc. Hope this helps. |

ABSolutely! hahahaRelax your neck. You are tensing up i think. When you come up concentrate on your abs and i kind of curl from there. The same with going down. place your hands on the sides of your head , like beside your ears but not touching. Or you can also pit your hands together in front of your face, as if you were preying. Try that and see if it makes a difference You should only be able to do about 10 or 12 to start, maybe more but not 100. |

One hundred a day!?! Good lord.First off, like Philia2 said, getting your abs to show is about body fat. You need to reduce that. Second, abs are just like any other muscle, you don't want to train them everyday cause you'll stunt your progress. Don't work them more than 3 times/week. Thirdly, try adding higher resistance exercise to your ab routine. Doing a lot of reps is nice for your muscular endurance, but if you want them to pop out, you've got to go for hypertrophy. Try putting a weight plate across your chest or behind your head when you do situps. Go for decline situps if you can, you get extra emphasis on the lower abs which often go unattended to. Try varying the types of exercises you do as much as possible, too (i.e. - reverse crunches, leg lifts, etc.). Let us know how it goes! |

hmmm...question, How du know if your abs are not showing fully because your BF% is too big or your abs muscles just arent big enough? For example if you flex your abs the abs show, but if not, barely. From my understanding muscles gets bigger when flexed so for it to show when flexed means the abs just need to get bigger, also I dont understand how the fat could go away just by flexing stomach.
Could someone clear me up on this plz? -------------- Willing is not enough, we must do. Success is the journey...not the destination.--- Bruce Lee |

Need to lower body fat...ie. lose weight( fat weight) to see agood six pack most individuals need abotu a 12% body fat ratio for women I not to sure, girls on the cheerleading squad have 18 and you can see there so I dunno.
abbs are build in the kitchen with a nice clean diet. Not necasserly in the weight room. -------------- .......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! ......minds are not vessles to be filled, but fires to be enlightened ......Confucious once said ,DO NOT play leap frog with a unicorn |

hmm one thing that bothers me though is, rest of my body looks fine, just belly. If I were to loose overall bf% to loose about 1cm from the belly would it make me really skinny? Anyways I aint too worried about teh fat for now, I think Im gonna keep bulking up for 9months-year b4 trying to get lean.

people who do 600 crunches a day are basically doing cardio, with their abs. They have built a high level of endurance in thier abs. However, if they fail to eat right and work the rest of their bodies, they still will not have a visible six-pack.-------------- Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements, and impossibilities: It is this, that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak.
