A Couple days ago I broke my right ring finger, doctor said i need surgey and that it will take 2 months to heal. After hearing this I almost fainted. All my muscle building goals and dreams are down the drain. Now I know I can still work out my legs and abs but the rest of my body seems hopeless. I will also keep up with my diet and cardio. But I wish there was a way for me to maintain/build the muscle in my upper body.

You could try attaching the leg band on some exercise tubing to your wrists and doing curls, etc. But the increase in blood pressure from working out isn't good when healing from surgery. Follow your doctor's orders on when exerting yourself is okay.
You shouldn't lose too much in 2 months, and if you keep working legs some of the benefit will go to your upper body.
Working the non-broken side (arm, hand, etc) will have a degree of transference to the broken side, also. So if you have the doc's okay, work the other arm. You shouldn't get imbalanced from a period of 2 months.

Please don't let this temporary set back steal your dreams and goals, two months may seem like forever when you are committed to attaining your goals, but it isn't and you should be able to get some good ideas from your doctor as far as exercises you can still perform. Injuries can try to steal from our mental motivation, but don't let it, instead focus on what you can do not what you can't. Those dreams are still there and will be when you are healed! :)

I have read.........that the body will keep muscle around on the hurt side, if the other side is still worked? Cause the body doesn't like to be out of porportion.

Will yoru whole hand be in a cast.......theres ways to do it I promise.

Use machines........you can do.....lateral raises in machines......ligh benching, light flys etc.

When I played football you would occaisonally get a severe sprain or broken finger at times. I had to have surgery done on mine too. The doc put on a cast and brace that allowed me to use machines as Andrew stated with light to moderate weights while healing. Tell the Doc your situation see if he can help you out with it.

Keep your head up man!
