I was just wondering if it is possible to gain 9 lbs in 3 days, or if this huge difference in weight is just a difference in scale balancing. Went to the doctor on Monday, scale said 210, weighed myself at home on Thursday, scale said 219. HELP!!

STOP WEIGHING YOUR SELF!!!! It just breeds despair. Here is what I tell every single new person that does what you are doing. Go get a cloth measuring tape and take measurements of your waist arms legs etc. Once a month or so retake the measurement again. Also see if you clothes are fitting loser. Muscle takes up less space than fat so as you lose bodyfat and increase muscle you will gain weight. This is ok. In this case you are most likely seeing water weight/scale differences...

yes sir!! To be honest though, this is the first time I have weighed myself in 3 months. I don't weigh myself regularly, and I know that inches are more important than lbs. I was just a little shocked by such a dramatic change, and thought I would ask. Thanky Thanky

Get off the scale and get on a work-out program, and diet.

When your weight fluctuates that high that fast, it is most probably water weight.

The Scale Beast!!!!I hate the beast!!!I kinda had the same frustrating problem until I was set straight by mutt, asimmer, and deby...

You would be amazed at the damage that was done to my scale at home when I dropped a 45lb plate on it..I love the scale beast now, because no matter if I get on it or not; I weigh 12 pounds....

Keep pushin on........

Hello everyone I am new to this and I was wondering if I could get some pointers on foods that I can buy to loose weight. I seem to be having a hard time with that considering I love junk food. LOL If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

you should just weigh yourself weekly, you could have just eaten alot of big meals without going to the bathroom, or not exercised for a week and eating alot, i wouldnt worry.

Also, measure yourself at the same time whenever you do, like in the morning. At the end of the day, my stomach measures 1 inch more than in the morning (due to water weight, I suppose)

Greatest thing in the world happened to me because of a scale. I purchased one a little while back and paid a nice amount assuming it would be accurate. Well- turns out it wasnt. I got on and was WAY lighter than I wanted to be so I hit the foods and the weights harder. When MY scale read what I wanted to be at finally, I was content. I went for a physical for work and was pleased to learn that my pricey digital scale was off 9 lbs. I was always about 10 lbs heavier than I thought I was.

I agree with BB1fit, you can have water weight fluctations of a few pounds overnight. If you are trying to lose weight , measurements are better than a scale.

Hi CristalBelle. For me, my scale is a motivator to follow my program. I do weigh several times a week, and my weight fluctuates several pounds. When my weight is up, I know I have been consuming too many diet sodas and high sodium foods. So I drink more water, cut out the salted nuts, etc. and get rid of the fluids. Weighing seems to work for me without breeding dispair. You really can't consume enough calories to truly gain 9 pounds in three days, so it has to be other factors such as fluids and digestive changes. If for you the scale affects your attitude in a negative way, get rid of it. Positive thinking is the most important...for life in general. You'll find what works for you. Good luck and let me know how you are doing. Weight control has been a life long struggle for me, so I appreciate ideas that I can try. Hang in there!

Hey guys. Thanks for all the advice and help. I have really been watching my diet as closely as I can. Our income has been a little lower than usual, so I have been working with what we can afford. I am drinking lots of water, and green tea. I heard that green tea helps flush out toxins from your system. I also got a pilates tape for Christmas, and have been using that every day. Now I know why streching before working out is important, cause boy am I stiff!! I am hoping that using this tape along with continuing watching my diet will show some results, or at least keep me active until the temperatures start to go up and I can walk to the gym again. I'm still smilin!!

Unless you cut off a leg that is not going to happen. Now if you are serious about losing weight and getting into better shape you need to exercise (weights & cardio) and clean up your diet. There is plenty of information here so take a look around. You have to realize that it is going to take time and you need to make it a lifestyle. Good Luck and welcome to FT

what is up with people and the constant misunderstanding that you can just magically lose weight in a matter of 15 days? There's only one way to lose actual weight... and thats SLOW.

Probably the same mentality that you have that after three weeks on a plan you are already looking for a way to magically gain muscle and definition. C'mon guy
