Well one of my milestones is nearly upon me.

We are going on a cruise Thursday, 10 days of sun-basking, beach-hopping, reef-diving bliss..

And of course whether I can wear the bikinis I bought 2 years ago and never got back into is the ultimate test. I'm not trying them on until I pack on Wednesday, just going to keep following the plan, and hopefully I'm there.

I'm very proud of what I *have* achieved so far, great upper body definition and my legs are much more firm, but I'm questioning whether I really accomplished my goal since I never really conquered my 'bottom'. Especially the last holdout, those pesky thighs. <sigh>

My big reward was this cruise, eating, drinking and being merry the whole time.. now I feel like I should still watch what I eat, and hit the gym on the ship daily because I didn't make it :(

What would you guys do if you were going right now.. live it up or stay on the plan?

Congrats!
I love cruising.. been on 7 so far.. which cruise line and destinations?
The cruise has A LOT of food, but even so, there are good choices and bad ones.. Just go and enjoy yourself, but don't overdo anything. I think that tasting the different foods would be fine, without going crazy.
All the cruises have a full gym as well with hot tub and sauna to work off all the delicious foods. A massage one day is a nice thing to top it all off (but if you want to do that, schedule it AS SOON as you get on the ship).
Depending on your destination, if you want recommendations of things to do, just let me know..

Live it up. You've made some great progress so, like you said, reward yourself. Anyway, I have been on a cruise and watching what you eat is nearly impossible.

watching what you eat on a cruise isn't that hard, if you go with the mentality to taste everything, but in moderation. Do a lot of swimming and walking around (on the ship and islands) to help work it off..
It's a vacation, nonetheless, so enjoy..

We're going on Holland America's ms Volendam, the Western Carribean itinerary. ... Half Moon Cay, Grand Cayman (scuba), Costa Maya (ruins), Cozumel, Vera Cruz, and Key West.

efrost if you know anything about the 3 Mexican ports I'd welcome info.. best ruins, tours vs taxis etc. I want to stay active and explore each place with lots of scuba, snorkeling, hiking etc.

Foodwise I am sure there's lots of seafood, which I love, and since meals are included it shouldn't be hard to keep eating six times a day.. I can be very inclined towards giant desserts and late night eating on vacation though..

Not to mention the margarita factor:cool:

Have you been on a cruise before? There are alot of different foods to try that you probably would not try any other time. Try some different things and eat what you want. you can get plenty of cardio going back and ofrth to the bar:big_smile:

Been on the Western Caribbean 3 times.. slightly different interary..
If you have time in Grand Cayman, go swimming with the Stingrays and visit Hell (a town there. You can send postcards from Hell which is fun).
In Cozumel, we usually wind up going shopping. They really built up the town and there isn't a ton to do there. You can go to the Mayan ruins from there, or from Costa Maya.
I would suggest not buying the excursions on the ship. They are VERY expensive and you can get a better deal by simply going ashore and booking it yourself with the locals, even though the cruise lines don't recommend that. We've always done it that way and it works out better for us. Just make sure you're back in time to get back on the ship. I've never been to Vera Cruz.
If you get to Key West close to dusk, make sure you see the Sundown festival there. Most cruise ships aren't there during that time period though.

I asked my wife what she thought about eating, and she made me write that you should eat whatever you want. She eats all she wants, goes to the gym every other day, and gains 3 pounds.. that she works off the next week.

Live it up! There are some things you can do to not ruin your accomplishments...1.drink a but-load of water 2.Opt for the non-fried foods and stay away from the buttery foods as well 3.when drinking, I don't know if you like beer, but go for light beer. Try to stay away from mixed drinks that are high in sugar. 4. if there's a cardio room on board, try to hit it a few times for mental compensation. Otherwise, do your thing...I'm jealous!

Hmm.. will they still put the little umbrella in my lite beer? I love beer.. (and rum punch, and pina coladas, and banana daiquiris.. but mostly beer:love:)

Water is the thing I'm worried about, I'll have to buy 'but-loads' of bottled water.

I've been on cruises before, Bahamas and Fiji.. I was a big drinker/partier then though, my bar tabs were as much as the cruise itself!

And like jdelts said, hit the cardio for a bit... physically and mentally... we were in Mexico in December, the resort had a gym... made sure I popped in there a few times to burn off the Coronas... just so I could add more!

Hey, the good thing about milestones is that they are stationary...they will be here waiting for you when you get back...go forth and eat, drink, and be merry and bring us back some fun stories and pictures so we can hate you more than we already do!!
