My personal trainer gave me a regimen (once a week) in which he recommends an aerobic style workout in the gym. What he does is that he gives me low weights and requires me to do 50 repititions. I only work on the large muscle groups. There are no rests between the each excercise as I am to run to the next station. I have gone upto 4 sets of this. In another gymnasium I belong to, I tried this out and was told that it is not correct. My question is, what is wrong ? I feel that I am getting the effect out of it. Lawrence

I want to increase my fat burn.
I work out about 6 days a week. Some days only aerobic. But on Fridays I have this session in which I do about 50 repitions and I was wondering why some people are against it

Well, I think your trainers heart is in the right place. Increasing your workload in some manner is essential to what you want to do, but it is extremely hard to get fat burn from weights. You may think about asking him if you can do the weights heavier at a more moderate pace to gain muscle size, and for your fat burn use your cardio, maybe add in your cardio regimine a HIIT session or two each week, and proper diet. Remember, nothing burns fat more even at rest than the more muscle mass you have.

I have no problem with muscle size or muscle mass, my biceps measure in at 48cms and after a workout at 51cm.
