As each pathetic paycheck comes in, I try to upgrade my "home gym." All I have is free weights ("free" - I wish) Can somebody tell be what makes an EZ-curl bar worth buying?(other than the obvious benefit of not having to change weights on the main barbell) I mean, weight is weight. How does lifting a bar that's all wavy make it better?

I have the same question. As my pathetic paychecks keep coming I wonder if I really need some upgrades. That is about the last thing i need to make my home gym complete but wonder if it is really needed. But if it will increase my strength I will give it a try.

An easy curl bar will take the stress off of the wrists. It is very beneficial to at least change up periodically. YOu will find after you get stronger and start adding weight, the easy curl(not sure why they call it that, nothing easy about it), will save greatly on your wrists. Plus you will find it good to use on french curls, etc. Hope this helps..

Yeah and do you know if there is really a big diffenece in the EZ curl bars that have the big U shaped grips (called a super curl bar i think), and the ones that have the V shaped grips. Something about triceps and biceps I think?????

The ez bar can hit the bis from a different angle as well as giving the wrists a break.

I can't understand how it makes lifting easier on the wrists? I mean, you're still holding a metal bar in your hands and you're still lifting weight. Can someone explain to me how the shape of the bar could relieve stress? Is it because your wrists are turned(rotated) at different angles?

Exactly the shape of the bar and how it turns your wrists makes for less stress!

Alright. I guess I'm starting to get the picture. Thanx Mutt and BB1FIT. Just when I thought there was one piece of equipment I had no use for. I guess I'll go buy one dammit. Do y'all have an opinion for me and Lewdog on which type is better - the U-shape or the V-shape bar?

Not really though the one I have is more like a "w" then a u or v. One is more for triceps I think though.....

I like the U one myself, if the V bar works biceps from a different angle, then you can do the same thing on the U if you hold it like its the V...does that make sense? its almost the same except the U bar you can use for tricep extenstions too. so go with the U bar ;)

This is late, but I like the U bar too. They have V bars at my gym and I don't really like them
