I work out 3 days a week on my upper body.I am really cut and strong after workouts but then it always goes down.I have only been lifting for two weeks and I still have 9more weeks left to be the strongest I've been in my life. What foods should I eat before and after workouts. What is the difference betwen high wight low reps and low weight hgh reps and what do they do.What excercises help to get my arm cut when its in a walkig position lke straight down. Please help weight training is very important in my journey to the N.B.A.

The difference between high reps/low weights and low reps/heavy weights is that the higher reps will give you more definition and the lower reps will give you more mass/strength. As far as foods before a workout, you can do a search, but if I have time, I like to make oatmeal as a before workout meal. It gives you carbs and protein for energy throughout your workout. Hope this helps.

I'm just curious as to why you don't work your lower body also? It seems to me like that would be important also.

What program for your lower body? (I'm curious now) and why?

Please look in the nutrition forum about eating before and after work out.

Nope we got men here as well. First I would make sure that you do work the lower body. I know that you are ona vert leaping program, but it is very important that the legs get a good weight training as well. They are after all the foundation by which you move. As to getting cut for the arms, a lot of that is genetics, how much muscle you already have, and last how much body fat you have. When you see someone with cut, veins jumping out look they have a good amount of muscle and low BF. The best thing for you since you are young is sticking to basics like bar bell curls, and dumb bells curls. To gain mass use a weight that is heavy (remember to use good form, never ever lose the form). And lower reps. I would stay on that for a good 2 months or so. See after that how much you have gained then try the lower weights and high reps.

Hp if you would have read some of the previous posts on the site, you would have A) found the answers to your question and B) noticed that this site is mostly men. Occassionally people get tired of answering the same questions, but I guess we women are a bit soft hearted as well as soft headed.

If you are indeed a serious basketball player i would have thought your bodys performance was more important than appearence.

"big and cut" looks great but isn't necessary or always desired for sports

RIGHT ON JINGO. It doesnt matter what you look like it is what you can do with it. I have very small legs but yet they do what I want them to, jump high.

Well, I know that I have a lot of guys asking me for help and advice in there workout here at work (since that is mostly who I work with). They seem to really like my advice, so I think women can contribute just as musch as men. I do a lot of research on both male and female gains, since I am helping my husband with his workouts and I know he won't do the research.

Welcome HpStar: You have already gotten some good advise So I won't add to that but will say, Your journey through life will be a better one if you look more at the value of the advise rather than what sex gives it. The women I have encountered in this site are very informed & knowlegable so their advise is very credible.

Lol, okey now I have tried that as well!!!!

Okey young man, listen to me: it IS possible to be pretty, be female and have a great brain as well!!!

Hmmm I guess you're just too young, whatever as Lumina says we women are probably too soft hearted as well.
At least I hope you'll find whatever you're looking for.

Fill out your profile, and post in the appropriate (beginers forum) forum please. There is no need to bring up a 3 year old thread. You won't get many replys here.

does anyone know where you can get a workout that will build muscle mass and definition?
2005/04/30, 07:01 PM
to build muscle most efficiently you should work on building muscle first....and then on dieting...to give you that 'definition'....definition is just a factor of building muscle and losing fat...however unless you're on steroids you can't do either one very well...so I suggest to focus on one of these aspects....first I would suggest to focus on building muscle(you'll still end up losing some fat in this process)...and then going on a diet to help lose the excess body fat.....check out different threads about exercise and nutrition recommendations...also freetrainers has a free exercise and nutrition program..check those out also...

Yes...you're already on the way to success...go to the top and start you a fitness program here.

If you're looking for the fast and easy way you've come to the wrong place...this site promotes hard work and effort for gains that you'll keep for a long time. In other words if you're searching for an infomercial type product then give it up. It takes time to build muscle...if it were an overnight thing then there wouldn't be so many scrawny people around.
