I was talking to a personal trainer at my gym about my routine and she said that the pyramid rep system does not really work well for women. She suggested that I just lift with no break in between sets until I reach failure Any thoughts on this?

Well what does she look like....if she is buff thent ry it cause it worked for her...but you really need to find what works for you.

Yes, I agree what works for one may not work for another, then again it's good to have variety, so after you finish your current program, maybe give her suggestion a try.

Hmmmmm I hate that...... I mean those personal trainers who just say whatever.... (just like docs......) Yes, it's true that we women work our muscles differently from men BUT that doesn't mean that we cannot use the same technics to BUILD up our muscles as the men.
It's harder for us to get muscles so that's why we have to work even harder than the men. The key point for building lean muscle mass is VARIETY!!! Just don't always do the same thing. As Lumina says, why not just continue doing your given exercise routine (and see the results) and then try doing as the PT says afterwards.

Philia is right. Variety is the spice of life, especially in your workout routine. Keep your muscles guessing.
