I see all the recommedations to sleep 8 to 10 hours a day, but I can't do that. If I'm lucky, I can do 7.

If I sleep much more than that, I get up sluggish and feel like a stoned snail all day. That kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it? Hard to motivate when you feel strung out :)

Isn't there some sort of exception for things like that... and they say as you age you need less sleep. Hate to see me at 52... LOL

Anyone else have a theory about the amount of sleep you need?

I think, like many things, it's a general guideline, an average of a group of "average" people. I personally, need a good 8 hours to function and not be a moody...well you know, but my brother gets 6 hours and he says that's all he needs.

I agree I need at least 8 to feel right. So it is a matter of what your body needs.

I usually need 8+... in college I usually sleep around that much and if I had a good workout i'll end up sore the next day.. but now in the summer I usually get 6/7 hours and if I workout pretty hard it feels like i'm not sore the next day but instead the day after.. i'm not sure if its just me not noticing til the day after or lack of sleep.. but who knows...
