The gym I joined plays nothing but Top 50 music. It seems it is on a carousel, constantly playing the same 15 songs each day from 12 - 1 when I work out. I have an MP3 player which I combat this cardio crap with, but I need some suggestions to keep it interesting.
Personally I like to work out to HIGH INTENSITY metal/rock (Zombie,Rage,Limp Bizkit,COC,etc..). What do you all find motivates you?

Slipknot, or a version of techno called energy.

Slipknot is great... lately i've been listening to left behind and the new abuse mix of my plague (its the mix thats on the sound track for resident evil).. I liked few songs off their self titled cd but other than left behind I didn't really like much on Iowa....

Until you've worked out to slayer, there is no comparison to music that pumps you up. Slayer and Sepultura is where it's at.

Maybe I'm just old school but I still like to listen to Guns & Roses especially Appetite for Destruction and some of the older Metallica CD's too. "Paradise City" (by G&R) and "One" and "Don't Tread on Me" (by Metallica) are the best 3 workout songs ever! Just my 2 cents worth. Kid Rock's new CD is a good one also.

Hmm, I've always hated Sepultura. However Pantera, Early Tool, and early metallica is borderline too slow for me. Ya know, it's gotta be hardcore energy. I just don't focus as well if the music is too slow.

Cool, those are some interesting responses. Cainsands, where can I check out the 'energy' stuff? Any artists you recommend?
I enjoy old Tool and Metallica too, but I have been disappointed with most of their new stuff. In general, I haven't cared too much for any of the newer rock (Creed, Match Box, Lifehouse, Puddle of Mudd -cookie cutter music). I DO like Godsmack though. It seems the good stuff requires word of mouth or some serious detective work to unearth.
