I'm curious to know just how many of the FT members incorporate a full body flexability plan into their training regime. Also if anyone would like a personalised stretching plan please feel free to email me amd I'll be more than happy to help.

p.s email address in my profile :)

A general/basic flexibility plan would be something I would try.

If you're interested in what the muscles are actually going through when you stretch them, check out this site:

www.enteract.com/~bradapp/docs/rec/stretching/

Click on the PDF format (easier to read). The document is 68 pages long, so it may take awhile to read. Its interesting just to look through it.

It's not difficult to know how to stretch a muscle (and do it!) but people tend to forget the important stretching part AND don't keep the muscle stretched long enough.
When stretching a muscle you should keep the stretch for at least 30 sec (something about reflexes and impulses from the brain "asking" the muscle to relax and let it be stretched....)
Doing small fast stretches can help you warm up the muscle but not really help you with overall flexibility.
To become flexable takes time.

With a little patience, I think Freetrainers is preparing a strecthing program.

Finally, why not just including stretching in between your sets and series?!! Good way also to help the body get rid of lactid acid......

This is true on not being difficult to stretch but to some of us like me for example, how do you know how or what kinda stretches to do. None of this site show you how to strech. We do need to have some one from the FT to have a category on stretching and to teach others how to stretch the right way.

Thank you
Sugarmom

I'm like Sugarmom. I don't really know how to stretch either. The info on stretching and flexibility would be really useful. Don't get me wrong I knew I needed to stretch, I just didn't know what to do and when to do it. A friend of mine started me out but even with that we are just doing a few basic stretches. So this kind of help would be appreciated.

The original author of this thread/message provided highly descriptive stretches that you can use. Use the ft search button above and type "Basic Flexability Workout." This member was kind enough to post a couple of muscle group exercises about 1-1/2 months ago.

Good luck!
