Hey I just can not stand running on the treadmill or doing any of the other machines, so when I train I do 50 jumping jacks with 5 pound weights on each leg in between sets. I do 600 a day, 4 days a week, 2400 a week. Is this okay for aerobics? I only do it to keep my fat to a minimum, to keep my abs looking sharp. They look awesome when I flex them and like regular you can see I have a 6 pack but they're not all that built up, i am starting to do bruce lees ab routine tomorrow so we'll see :)

anything that will get your heart up to the rate needed for a length of time is good aerobics. but just as important, it has to be something u enjoy. i personally do no gym cardio work; i have some small mountains about a 1/4 mile from my house that i go trail running thru. hard work and beatiful views. good luck............michael

If you like that better than the treadmill good for you. I hate jumping jacks. But they are a great exercise for working the large muscle groups. I would question the use of the 5 lb ankle weights. They aren't recommended on the ankle when jumping running stepping etc. They increase your risk of ankle injury. Hand weight under 5 lbs would reduce the risk of injury if you feel you need to add weights. If you are doing this for the abs have you addind the ankle weights while doing hanging ab exercises? Remember extended aerobics (20 min or longer) are not just for fat burning but are recommended for a healthy cardiovascular system.

Yeah..i think that that is pretty good. I do those sometimes in my workout. You could try doing them in the bathroom with the shower turned on hot to help burn some extra fat. It's kinda like a sauna in a way.

More a steam room, musclerage, lol a sauna is aaall dry! (o: (and you'll never burn fat in a steamroom, just loose water...)
Anyway Esco, you never get tired of all that jumping? Watch your knees and lower back.
You have to change sometimes. Cardio is not different, you got to change that as well, otherwise the body just get use to it.

I agree with philia2. Eventually your knees and back will start suffering. Just be sure to cycle your jumping jack routine with something else about every 8 - 12 weeks.
