When working out twice a day - what should I do? Do I work the same muscle groups in the morning and the evening or should I be doing two completely different things?

Split training works great, but only if you get enough rest and nutrition into your system or you face the chance of overtraining.

Do not do the same bodyparts, always different. An example would be Back in the morning with shoulders and triceps at night.

I would prefer doing the big muscle groups in the morning like chest, back, arms, legs,etc... and in the second workout I work my calves, abs and forearms..I think that works better for me

I'm just trying some changes to shock my muscles into more growth. Over the past few weeks I've made some great progress - I thought 2 a days would help for a couple of weeks.

If you're going to be working the same muscles in the same day then you should hit different angles of the muscle when doing the second workout. Otherwise just stick to doing different muscles. Big then small..

Yeah, two a day work really blasts your body. Like every body is saying, big muscle groups a.m. small groups and abs p.m. I can't keep that up but a couple of weeks at a time though, I get burnt out fast like that. It also puts a lot of demands on your time. As much as I hate to admitt it there is more to life than the gym.

It's temporary - I'm training hard for spring - it's almost beach season.

Twice a day would be nice... How do you find the time and the energy to keep that up. Place when do you fit in any kind of cardio???

what about creatine . If your working out twice a day, do you take twice the creatine? , or do you split the 5g into two portions?

i have a problem. i am 285 5 foot 11. i, a month ago, started lifting weights. should i do a circuit training or should i continue to lift weights with cardio. I don't really care to bench alot, i just want to tone up and loose about 85 lbs, where i graduated highschool at.

which one should i do.

I think the real answer to what your asking is don't think of your circuit routine as cardio, your cardio should be a separate thing, preferably done on a separate day. Your goal is wt loss and definitions, so my suggestion would be to do both...that is... do wt training 3X/wk (circuits are good) and cardio on the other 3X/week. Focus on compound moves like squats/lunges/bench/dips/pull ups/rows. You could also do the circuit 1X/wk and then do regular full body 2X/week--just for variety. Another good option is to use the wt. loss and def. program here on FT.

Also remember that diet is key to the wieght loss...eat enough healthy foods and no junk!

Hope that answered your question...good luck!

FOTW is absolutely right....circuit training is an effective lifting regimen to burn additional calories.....but it's not cardiovascular exercise(running, jogging, swimming, rowing, playing sports,etC)

Marc focus doing your circuit training 3 days a week while doing cardio 3 other days a week of about 30-45 min of as high intensity as you can muster for this period...

for circuit pick big compound exercises....free weights....

Squats
Deadlifts
Pull Ups
Bench Press
Stiff Legged Deadlifts
Rows
Dips
Lunges
Shrugs....

exercises like these....they work your whole body and burn a ton of calories....

Also consider changing your nutrition....I would think a big part of the weight gain is due to this.....so look into changing your eating habits....cutting out the obvious junk foods and booze....eat more smaller meals daily(5-8 which includes healthy snacks), eat more fiber(vegetables, fruits, etc)....drink more water...gallon a day....check nutrition plans on freetrainers they will offer you a lot of help in terms of how to track your calories and split up your protein/carb/fat intake....

thanks for the input, but i know i did not phrase that good enough. Should i do circuit training instead of a regular weight training exercise like a 4 day split.

Should i do circuit training 3 days a week with the other days cardio or should i do one/two body parts a day.
