I have finished the first 8 weeks of my workout program and I'm really pleased with the results. However, I was looking at the program I am supposed to start next week and noticed that much of what the program has me doing involves a weight machine. I don't have weights and don't really have access to them, so how do I get my program adapted for someone who works out at home without weights?

Fill out some water bottles with sand or small stones..... Or get a brick or two and glue them together.
Use your imagination and for your next birthday ask for dumbells as presents......

You can try to substitute things you did in the first few 8 weeks of your program.. Just compare the targeted muscles.. If not you can still get creative like like philla said like doing pullups on a tree branch or dips between two chairs.. but really you should look into some free weights.. some plastic sand/other filled weights with a barbell or spinlock bars should be cheap if any sporting goods stores around you have them... shop around..

Thanks for the suggestions. I got some dumbbells and have scouted around the site to find exercises comparable to what is listed. At least now I can target the muscles that I am supposed to, even if I am not following the program exactly.
I wish I had thought of the birthday gift idea for the weights and stuff. But my b-day is tomorrow, so it's a little late to be adding to the "I want" list. Maybe I'll treat myself, though.
Jnellie...still on the butts. Target quit day - May 7, my first day of freedom after final exams. Didn't think it would be fair to grade my finals while I am so cranky from nicotine withdrawal!

Hey engprof...

Happy Birthday (in advance). May god bless you with muscles as big as those of Ronnie Coleman.
