Hey everyone, Im 5ft 9in. 155lb. Just recently Ive decided to start bulking up. I eat 6 meals a day 400-500 cals a meal ( healthy foods ) I lift heavy. Ive heard that doing any form of cardio in a bulking stage would kill the purpose of bulking, since it uses up cals that would be used to build muscle mass. Im a hard gainer, my bf% is low, but I need to know if I added cardio (HIIT) once week, would it affect my gains? I am lean, but while gaining I want to keep fat to a minimum!!! Thanks for any advice !

This subject has been discussed quite thoroughly. Have you done a search at all?

I used to think I was a hard gainer....there's no such thing. You simply don't eat enough...again I ran into the same thing.
If you have low bf and are lean why do you want to do cardio?

You shouldn't be doing cardio if your caloric intake is only 2400-3000 and you want to bulk up.
I'm in the exact boat you are. I am 5' 9" and now 155lbs, used to be 145lbs.
To continue gaining I realised I was eating mostly proteins and wasn't getting enough calories. I've up'd my carbs (thats where the calories are) and am closer to 4000 calories now and am starting to slowly gain.
I'd suggest bulking up and than worrying up what to do with it as you go along...if you are gaining!

Again, sounding like a broken record, do cardio when bulking simply for cardiovascular health. Anything over this is and will be counterproductive to gain. Common sense should dictate this, gain is a product of excess caloric intake. Losing is a product of caloric deprivation. So, if you are doing heavy cardio like HIIT or something, this is geared toward a weight loss regimine. Doing the 'math', it doesn't add up, does it?
