im 17 years old, 5"1 and weigh around 112lbs. I want to try and get a flatter stomach, that is toned with some muscle showing (not necessarily a 6 pack), but i've heard only people with the right genetics can achieve this. So how do i know if i can achieve this, or if i'll just be wasting my time?
My stomach is a little flabby now, but to be honest up till recently my diet was not that great - too high in carbs.
what do you think?

Sure, genetics play a role, but anything is possible through hard work and determination. Change your dietary habits, train hard, and good things will happen.

Anybody can get a toned stomach, genetics only help to speed up the process for some people.
Diet plays a major part in seeing abs though, so you'll really have to make sure to eat a clean diet if you want to see them. Just like jbennett said, eat right, train hard, and you should have no problem.

I second and third those emotions! Restrict the simple carbs and fat in your diet, and try some strength training to speed up the process. Oh and don't kill yourself with crunches. try an ab routine a couple times a week to assist in the process.
