Hello everyone.I'm back with some more questions. I have been on the South Beach Diet for about 6 months. I've lost about 50 pounds and I'm happy, but I want a six pack. My wedding is in September of 2008 and I want to be able to show off my abs in on our honeymoon in Hawaii. Now don't get me wrong, the main reason for my change of lifestyle is my health, but it would hurt to look extra good. I'm 235 5'11" I'm still over my BMI but I have a feeling I'm going to stay stalky which isn't a problem at all. I just want to get more cut. I need tips on dieting and my workout routine. I'm pretty lazy when it comes down to ab routines becuase I focus so much on my chest. (that could use some toning too. Anyway I appreciate the input. -------------- Maintaining my mind, body and soul takes me closer to the Source. Clarity is power. |

There is no such thing as toning!!! You need to lose more body fat. That is it. No amount of ab work is going to make them show. I am not a the right person to comment on the right diet though. Someone else will have to step in.
As for training, if I were going to try to lose weight, I would do complexes. There is an article on t-nation.com called Complexes for Fat Loss. Just do a search for it. |

No amount of crunches, leg raises, whatever will make a six pack. Pemdas hit it on the head. Many folks do not want to hear this, and even TV will show you guys with fantastic abs doing exercises on the Ab Lounge, etc. However, what they fail to tell you is they had the diet to produce these abs. See, you can build all the muscle you want in your ab region(relatively speaking of course), but if a layer of fat is there, they will never show that six pack that is under there.-------------- Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer |

how do i figure out the diet aspect of it? my abs are toned and getting more so daily, but that thin blanket layer of fat is there. it seems like that fat layer is more noticeable since ive been doing the daily ab work....any suggestions on diet would be great....i am not an overweight individual and have a hard working fast metabolism...its just a little frustrating working this hard and not getting the definition i would expect....ive only been at it hard for 4 weeks though, so i dont know if my expectations are warranted......WR4

I wouldn't doubt it if there is a product sold in packs of 6 with Ab's on the label somewhere!
Find that product and behold your 6 pack of Ab's! -------------- Knock-Um Down & Keep-Um Down! |

what i meant by toned is that i can feel the definition under the layer of fat covering them and from what i understand and have read, you can do all the cruntches etc and still not get that blanket of fat to come off....im not suggesting that i want instant results or a six pak in a can etc....just tring to find out some specifics in terms of diet habits to incorp with my workout and goals. im new to the whole gym work out and diet disipline. part of my motivaation is that i have been told by chiropractor and physical theripist to strenghten my abdminals and work on hamstring stretches to avoid getting hurt in my line of work which requires heavy lifting and repetitive motion (i farm hardshell clams in the northeast)....thanks for the feedback.....i didnt mean to come off as negative or in a rush.
