Nationals are in 10 days. 16th and 17th in Las Vegas Nevada. I am on my taper. 1 or 2 events per day but extremely intense. I loaded my 403lb stone to my 52" platform fairly easily on Sunday. Feeling pretty good. My training log can be found:

This is from August 6th up until now. Thanks!

The day was perfect for anything strength related. It was 80 degrees and dry. Lot's of energy and excitement in the air. It was a great day. Here is my day:
Woke up at 6am for breakfast.
Stretched after breakfast.
Relaxed.
Started to warm-up prior to the rules meeting.

Event 1: Tire Flip (my best event going in)
I finished 2nd to last. I made a bad choice in foot wear. I'm not making an excuse here. I totally blew all of the rubber off the bottom of my shoe. Next time I'm wearing boots. I only flipped the 800lb tire 2 times. Anyway, bad things happen so deal with it.

Event 2: Farmer's Walk
310 each hand for 65'. The weight for that distance was a PR for me. Felt good about this.

Event 3: Yoke
825lbs over 80' in 30 sec. It was a PR by 225 lbs and 30'.

Event 4: Kettlebell
106 lbs x 14 reps in 1 min
PR

Event 5: Atlas Stones
260, 300, 330, 360, 380

1st 4 stones I murdered in 27 sec. I had the last one up 3 times and could not find the platform. Not a PR but not a bad day on stones.

So, This contest marks 6 months of training and competing for Strongman. I feel I learned a lot about the sport on Saturday and now have a new vision for my training and what it will take to get my procard. I love and respect this sport and feel I have a future in it. Thanks to the following people who helped me get to this point:
Scott Markowitz - Training partner
Rob Bent - Training partner
Bill (what is your last name) - Training partner
* Some people are so unique all they need is a 1st name.
Tom Mitchell - Florida State Chairman and Master's Heavyweight National Champion.
Mary Wise - Florida Head Volleyball Coach. There is a reason the team has won 17 straight SEC titles.
Gregg Troy - Florida Head Swim Coach. Tapering is an art form and Coach Pappy is a Master Craftsman.
The entire Florida Volleyball Team (players and staff) - This team knows how to make you feel like one of the family. Very supportive group.

The plan for the next 4 months is to build my weaknesses into strengths. My goal is to be a player in next years nationals.

Hey, no prob, bro. Anything I can do to help. It was a great comp, and I think your day went pretty well all things considered. The other coach that I was with, David, was pretty impressed with your performance, too, especially after I told him that you were only training for this since March. Some of the other people that showed up, like Philippi, was cool; good to see continued support of the support.

Stay in touch, bro, and keep training hard - we only have alot more ahead of us!

Sick.

Kettlebell clean and press, I take it? Did you have any practice with one before the meet?

I practiced hard with the kettlebell. I had 15 reps but the judge didn't count my second rep because she said I didn't stick it long enough. It's all good. It is an event that may never again show up in a comp and training with it has made my shoulders stronger than ever.

LOL nice to see a member here go thru this.

As a quarter squatter was dominating the rack, I heard a conversation between an old powerlifter (easily in his 60\\'s) and what I would guess was his grandson (15-yrs old):

Kid: \\"So, why does he stop so short on his squats? That looks weird to me.\\"

Old PL\\'er: \\"He\\'s afraid if he squats deep, his vagina might touch the ground.\\"

Nice. I ask because I've never seen it in a competition before.

Pictures, video?
