Hello all...

My home training program starts with pushups. I am finding this is about the most difficult exercise that I do. I am feeling it mostly in my stomach (abs?). The chest/arms feels secondary, but my stomach really tightens up when I am doing them. Perhaps I am doing them wrong? Maybe I ate too much this morning.

Feedback appreciated.

I would think that's from keeping your body straight during the motion. Get some ab work in for stability and it should pass.

yeah I had the same problem, so what I started to do was like the person above suggested was doing more ab work outs. Now there's less strain on my back and around my stomach area. Now I really feel it in the chest and arms. OR you can start off easy and just do from knee push ups. Worked for me and now I'm doing at least 20 without killing myself.:)

Yeah, I guess I just don't feel like I am doing real pushups on my knees, but I appreciate all the advice!

Every expert was a beginner once. Don't go all gungho and hurt yourself trying to pushups on the toes. It'll get there, just work your way up.
