I'm a chubby 220 twenty pounds, and my long term goal is to be a much skinnier and well defined. From my reading here it apparent that I can't loss the bodyfat and gain muscle mass at the same time. Does anyone have any suggestions if I should start with lossing the weight by increasing my cardio or to focus on strength training to increase my muscle mass. I guess my question is which option do you think I would see faster results?

confused i do believe you are...

if you gain muscle you will loose bodyfat...moderate cardio is ok to do along with it...

the biggest thing is getting your diet in check...i didnt exercise for the first 20 pounds i lost...then i slowly did some cardio 3-4 days a week....it was once i started weight training my bady took *shape* :D

take one step at a time....again i would suggest getting a healthy eating lifestyle established and mastered..then go from there....good luck!!

Lay off the pizza Bubba.....sorry couldn't resist.

First thing though is to look at what you eat. Fried foods, soda, candy, cake, cookies....etc. These need to be cut out or at least drastically reduced.

Start walking 4 days a week. Once that gets easier try adding some jogs into your walk, and then some sprint intervals. At some point begin looking into weight training also.
