I just wanted to know if there really is such thing as too much exercise? i currently work out 2 times a day and some days 3 times.
I do kickboxing 3 times a week also.
This is a normal days schedule for me:eat breakfast then i go and work out in my home gym.I do my stretches, then my kickboxing drill, then shadow boxing, 20mins on the treadmill doing interval training, then i do free weights ,then press ups,200 situps, lunges, squats etc ,then on to the punch bag then the hook and jab pads.
Then in the evening i go to kickboxing for 1 hour which is high impact.then i come home and go for a jog.
On the days i dont go to kickboxing i would do the same workout that i did in the morning for the evening which lasts for 1-2 hours.I do this everyday apart from maybe sunday.is this too much?
Its because i want to be in peak physical condition so that i can compete at kickboxing and put the uk females firmly on the map.
I know im addicted to exercise but in other countries alot of thai boxers train for six hours or more a day.
Your thoughts or suggestions please, sorry for the long winded post.

For the normal person this would definitely be overtraining. The body needs rest and from what you're saying you don't rest much.

With a workout like this I think you need to pay very close attention to what you're eating on a daily basis, and your water intake. But being a competitive athlete I would venture to guess that your body is more resilient than a normal person.....but I still think it is a bit extreme. I think you need more rest, or at least low impact type work.

You are at a much greater risk for injury with that much exercise. You need a day of rest no matter what. Even the most hardcore athlete needs rest. The thai boxers in other countries are training for fights, which does not necessarily include lifting, and they get a lot of rest in between that training too, some do nothing but train for 6 hours then rest until the next day they start their training again. If you think about it, it's just like having a physically demanding job. I work out almost everyday but I have to make myself take a day of rest because I know even though I may feel like I don't need it, it is necessary. If your lifting weights you need to take time out to rest, period. That's the time when your muscles repair themselves. As far as your other training goes as long as you have one day a week to recover (Sunday is your off day right?) from the intense training you should be ok. Are you doing this year round?

I have heard (correct me if im wrong) that if you exercise more than 1.5 hours a day without 6-8hrs of rest (depending on your stats) than your body goes into a 'survival mode' and starts storing FAT.

Is that true?

I think that depends more how much/what you are eating.
