I'm a server at Olive Garden, I was if anyone out there has figured out on average, on a busy day, how many miles in a 4 hour shift a server would walk. I only say 4 hours even though the shift is 5 to 6 hours because 1-2 hours of the shift are either closing, and that isn't as high paced walking or a slow period, it also takes in account the time where your actually putting down the food at the table. But that does leave about 4 hours of constant walking.

Also would days i work be good enough for my cardio for the day, or should i still hit the gym on these days?

Hi lukas...as a server...yes you walk and squat ALOT...but your heart rate doesn't go up...so it wouldn't replace cardio...in my opinion...

PS. No i don't eat anything at that place, except the minestrone soup which is roughly 160 cal per bowl 1 g fat 18 carbs and 5 protein.

PPS. Don't eat the bread sticks, with out butter and salt, which they already come with unless one requests not to have butter and or salt, it quoted as 140 cals each according to the net, but roomer around work is they are over 200 cal with out that stuff, cant imagine what they would be with all the other stuff.

I used to work at Red Lobster...we would constantly eat the biscuits...couldn't figure out why our tooshies were growing...45 grams of fat in ONE biscuit....that explained alot....

Mmmm...Red Lobster biscuits. The only thing I like there. My daughter was a server at Olive Garden for a few years (she gets more tables--tips--working at IHOP)and has got a decent right bicep from carrying the tray. Now at IHOP they carry 5 plates in their left hand, so she is working on evening out her arms :-).

Pick up one of those step counter things you put on your hip. From there you can calculate how many steps you walk per night and it isn't a hard calculation to take that into a rough guess for mileage.
