I'm 13 and bigger than practicaly everyone i know, To tell you the truthe i'd much rather be anorexic than FAT! But i don't know what to do. I'm currently on a diet where I only have two meals a day, skip breakfeast, than for lunch I have a small fruit salad, and for dinner I have a small salad without dressing. So far it's working as I lost 4 pounds in 4 days, because I'v been doing 200 situps per day and 20 situps per day plus a 15 minute jog each afternoon. I'm only worried that this diet will have bad long-term effects. Does anyone know?
I'd appreciate your help, from Jasmine93

YES STOP THIS! You are starving your self and can cause many problems hormoneally as well as physcially. Talk with a teacher , or your parents, get HELP.
-------------- When I consider the short duration of my life, swallowed up in the eternity before and after, the little space which I fill and even can see, engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces of which I am ignorant and which know me not, I am frightened and am astonished at being here rather than there; for there is no reason why here rather than there, why now rather than then. Who has put me here? By whose order and direction have this place and time been allotted to me? The eternal silence of these infinite spaces frightens me.

Hi Jasmine! You're right to be scared of the long term effects. Starving yourself is not the right way to loose wt. If you want to loose wt and keep it off, you need to change your eating habits. You should try and loose about 2lb per week. I know that doesn't seem like much, but if you do it this way, it'll stay off and you won't mess up your metabolism. A good way to start is to eat 3 meals a day (that includes breakfast!) and have a small snack between meals. At each meal have a source of lean protien (eggs, chicken breast, can of tuna, lean ham etc) and source of carbohydrates (whole wheat bread, pasta, rice) and tons of veggies. your snacks should be things like a yogurt and piece of fruit or a handful of almonds, something small and healthy. This way you won't feel hungery all the time and your body will be getting the nutrients it needs for your fast growing stage.
Cut out any junk food your currently eating/drinking like chips, chocolate, pop and artificial juices.
Include exercise in your daily routine, simple things like walking for 30min, or more intensive like running, cycling, swimming. Make it something you enjoy and will stick with for the long term. 200 situps per day is not going to burn the fat away.
I don't know what you currently weigh, or how much you want to loose, but trying to loose it by starving yourself is a quick route to failure and possible ill health. Take the time to browse this site and learn all you can about healthy eating and exercise. You'll benifit in the years to come if you make the changes now.
Good Luck and welcome to FT!

Hey Jasmine
NEVER starve yourself to lose weight, thats dangerous. It's a very bad method of losing weight. I was anorexic as well, take it from me, don't skip meals. Just change your eating habits and gets lots of exercise, theres no easy way out. Just keep at it and you'll get where you wanna get.
