Hi,
This is my first post but I have spent hours trying on these forums learning a lot especially from assimmer and bb1.
My goal is to make a life adjustment and hopefully see some results (meaning have a great-looking body). I am 26 M, 5'8", 168lbs. Most fat I have is around love handles and thighs. I started a workout routine a week back (in presparation for my trip to london in dec). I dont expect to be mr universe in 3 months but it would be nice to see some noticable changes.
I have improved my eating habits (avoiding junk altogether and drinking protien shakes after workouts). I will adjust them more by eating 6 meals a day but maybe from next year.
My question: Is the following plan reasonable given i keep it up?
M - 5 min warm up,Weight Training (Chest/Back), 10 min cool down (bike).
T - 15 min HIIT, 25 min moderate cardio
W - 5 min warm up,Weight Training (Legs/Shoulders), 10 min cool down (bike).
Th - 15 min HIIT, 25 min moderate cardio
Fri - 5 min warm up,Weight Training (Biceps/Triceps), 10 min cool down (bike).
Sat - 15 min HIIT, 25 min moderate cardio
Sun - REST
I would love to hear from assimmer and bb1
THANKS FOR ALL THE INFORMATION I HAVE OBTAINED FROM HERE.

Unless you really enjoy cardio that may be hard to keep up. I am not sure what your lifting routine consists of, but you may want to concentrate more on lifting.

Why are you doing both HIIT and reg cardio on the same days? Too much I think. i agree with ka take out one those either do HITT or Reg cardio and add more weight training.

I got the suggestion from here. i thought maybe it was beneficial.
From bb1fit
-------------------------------------------------
Do like Amy says, but do this little variation on your HIIT days. Gets to that deep hard to get to fat.
Do a short warmup, then do your HIIT session for 15 minutes. Be intense. Take a 5 minute break, and then do a 30-35 minute standard cardio session at medium intensity.

Strength and Honor!
And explaination for this was
--------------------------------
The first segment is for mobilization, to get those stubborn fatty acids out of the fat cell.
The second segment is the oxidation part, to burn them off in the muscle.

I hope you dont mind bb1 for quoting u. This was in 2006 and i thought more research had been done since 2002.
I wouldnt mind alternating HIIT and cardio on my HITT/Cardio days (means less time at gym :)).
How can I add more weighttraining into this routine.
All ur help is appreciated. I am in the early stages and havent developed any habits yet.

Just make sure that you are giving just as much or more time to lifting the weights as you are to cardio is all I meant

What you quoted from me will indeed work, and is very effective for fat loss. However, just beginning it may be a bit taxing to you to keep up with. When just starting, you are gung ho, kind of like a new exicting job, and you 'attack' it. After a while, just like a job, it starts to become just that, and a pace you cannot keep up with nor want to. I would suggest starting out a bit slower, do 3 full body workouts per week(get your body in shape to train so to speak), and on your off days if you like do some moderate cardio.
As you progress, then a split can be started and you can then start to incorporate the more intense style of HIIT followed by moderate cardio. This is where it gets difficult making posts, because this was addressed mainly to more advanced or folks who have been doing this for a while, and have diet in check for a long time, etc.
