Does anyone know of a way to cover up the sickening taste/texture of Cottage Cheese? I need to eat at least 2 cups a day but I start to gag after 1/4 cup! Hey Arnold, I read that you eat ALOT of it, can you tell me how? I tried it with strawberries and also apple sauce, but I still feel it trying to come back up lol.Help!

Thanks for the idea, getting rid of those chunks should help :) I also tried it with pears and they covered the taste pretty good.

Here's a good question: What KIND of cottage cheese did you buy?

Did you get the FAT FREE??

I bought the fat free ONCE.. I learned my lesson. It is NASTY. Now what I do is buy only Low Fat but how I did manage to eat that fat free stuff was by mixing the fat free with the low fat. MUCH more palatable.

You are right klb, the 2% cheese is about all i can take. And I have found a few ways to block the nasty taste... At work I eat it with pears (1cup/1.5 pears). And just today I found the best way ever! I mix almost 1 tbsp of STRAWBERRY JAM/JELLY with every half cup of cot cheese. ITS GREAT! The jam I have tastes like fruit roll ups i used to eat. It totally blocks the taste. mmmmmmm

Good eatin

Eating cottage cheese isn't a requirement is it? I do not eat it and I know lots of competing Bodybuilders who don't ever eat cottage cheese. You could substitute it with some other protein source. Why are you eating something you cannot stand ??????

Is there some metabolic advantage to eating cottage cheese? That stuff is an ingredient, not a meal. I don't care what you put in it !

It took me a minute to get my taste for it back. I try not to think about the texture.

I eat it because its a great source of protien and is fairly cheap. I cannot stand it plain, but when mixed with other foods, like fruit, it becomes a tasty treat. I mix it with can pears for good taste and alot more calories.

Ok, I know this is an "older" post, but I just have to tell ya....

I was experimenting one day, and thought, "What would pureed cottage cheese taste like?"

I did it. It tastes like a mild sour cream. If you can puree/blend/whatever it to get a smoother texture, add skim milk to it, you have a good start to a white sauce. Add some reduced fat parm. cheese and heat, serve over noodles/spaghetti for a alfredo or romanoff sorta dish that has protein, carbs and very little fat.

I'll find other uses for cottage cheese, just gimme time. I love the stuff. Could eat it for almost every meal. ;o)

I'm gonna try to figure out some "nutritional" shakes based with cottage cheese. If anyone else has done this successfully or not, please let me know... I'd like to start 'sprimenting soon! I like variety!

Cottage cheese shakes are one of my regulars. Put the cottage cheese, protein powder, your fresh fruit of choice and a little flax seed oil and it comes out like a store bought smoothie. You can also blend a carton of cottage cheese with a packet of no sugar jello, one cup of boiling water and some protein powder in the blender. Chill and it's a super desert. Which reminds me that I have a question but I'll start another topic.

cottage cheese tastes great! What is so bad about it? Were you all that so not like the taste tortured with it as a child? LOL but anyway it is cheap and a great source of protein, I use it as a dip for carrots and other veges

I dunno maybe I will build up the courage abd try it sometime! I am on the no fat cottage cheese binge and eat it daily, i am not afraid to admit it...MY NAME IS BRIAN and I am a cottagecheeseaholic..............
