Just curious,
Lately I have been losing my motivation about half way through my workout. I'm great out of the gate, but then I'm just tired and I don't feel like doing it anymore after the second set. Is it possible I'm just not eating enough to have enough energy??

Do you eat a pre-workout meal? If not, you could try that. Otherwise, it could just be mental! Most of the time, I've got the music playing loud and so the time just passes by. Don't think about finishing the sets for the exercises. Instead, just go one exercise at a time and don't look back...

No, I don't eat before I workout. I could try that. I'll have to try your mentality too.

I eat a good pre workout meal consisting of complex carbs (sometimes oatmael), take a protein drink with 5 gm glutamine in it and take 2 Xenadrine's 45 min before hitting the gym. Once there I warm up on a treadmill for 10 min (just to break a sweat) and do about 5 min stretching. Works good for me and gives me one heck of a focused powerful workout! The weights just keep moving up (now thats motivating in itself!) After the gym I have a simple carb (fruit) and another protein drink with 5 gm creatine added. My protein drinks are 20 grams protein each. I do weights 3 days a week to keep from getting burned out. Like Robert, I also listen to music. I'm 40 and have never been motivated to work out until recently...can't believe I waited so long in my life to get started! Weights and muscle is increasing...waist is decreasing...fast!

Very cool. I think I may have to adapt some of that. Thanks.

I think everybody has days (or weeks!) like that ...

On zero motivation days I remind myself of my goals, and what I've already achieved. That's usually enough to get me to the gym.

Yeah, I somehow still train, but with little or no intensity. I do just need a week or so off. I'm nearing the end of my program so I'm just getting worked.

I've been working out for 13 straight weeks. I know I should take a break, but I've been pretty motivated about my workouts! I'm over half way through my 2nd, back-to-back 8-week program so I'll take a week off after that.

You get down with your bad self. I'm cool with trying to be iron man. I'm taking my time getting there.

hmm...losing motivation huh? If you been working out alone, find a workout partner...that helped me out BIG TIME! But maybe you do already have a partner.....hmm, Perhaps the lack of motivation is coming from within your mentality thinking that you are no longer progressing or making gains......if thats the case, look at an old picture of yourself, and look at yourself NOW. Look at how successful you have become. Success! leads to motivation, motivation leads to success! That worked for me as well....:) or if not...perhaps you just simply NEED a BREAK....
