I have been having a 3 day split before and my huge major problem is that it is way too much overtraining. Sometimes I'm in the gym for around 2 hours before I get out. Expectantly enough, I haven't gained any weight in around 2 to 3 months, even though once I began using free weights seriously with supplements I gained around 13 lbs in 8 weeks (newbie gains no doubt). My question is would be going to a 5 day split help a lot by reducing that time?

Well are you standing around talking alot? How much are you resting?
what are you doing? does this count cardio after?
I'm usually in gym 1 1/2 hours on my leg days...just cause my knees take 2 3 sets to fully warm up.
1 min of rest....is usualy enough for any kind of training. Except if your over 90% then go to 1 1/2 to 2 mins.
IF you have to count to 60 in your head after your set..
I do 3 days a week too...I have no trouble getting in and out in 1hr to 1/2 hours.

I work out on our local military base gym, but I go after school during peak hours, I definitely don't talk a lot.
A lot of the equipment is in use much of the time so a lot of the time there is waiting going on.

You are probably doing too many sets. Even doing 2 bodyparts, you should be done and out of there in an hour.
Legs may take a bit longer.

Well, this program gave me on 2 days 3 body parts to train and when it did that it gave me four sets a piece to do so. That is about 24 sets or so so that makes it a bit difficult to get in and out in an hour. Maybe I should just keep all the exercises but bump down to about 2 sets, I don't know, tell me what I should do.

Personally I'd start a different program or extend your split to 4 days. I don't know how intense your workout are but once I hit an hour, there's no reserve left and no point in staying because of it.

I agree with Mike. I would recommend a four day split: 1) back, biceps, 2)Quads, calfs, abs, 3) chest, triceps and 4) shoulders, hamstrings, abs. Each body part should not take more than 30 minutes at 12 sets total. If you have any thing left then hit cardio for 20-30minutes. 1 1/2 hours max and your out of there.

I switched to a 5 day say and did chest and calves today. I went right after school when it wasn't busy and managed to get in and out in about 35 minutes. Not too bad.
