someone told me that in order to make his sit ups more challenging, he put weights on his stomach while he did them. this dude isnt a body builder or nething...just a jock. would that really help work the abs more?

neat....how much weight? his abs are pretty defined but i just figured that was from all those sports

Start from something u can manage and build ur way up by using heavier weights each time.

Hold the weight with your arms crossed on your chest, this makes your upper body heavier, putting them on your stomach seems a little useless.

Start with a five pound plate and work your way up.

Resistance builds muscle. Putting the weight on you while doing situps adds resistance.
